The Carbo-Rod is an effect stick. You can get a brush type effect. You can get a sound that is between a brush and a drumstick. One may strike the Carbo-Rods on the rim wrapped portion to obtain yet another unique sound. If you strike the Carbo-Rods on the gap (“sweet-spot”) between the upper portion of the handle and the lower region of the rim wrapped gaffers tape, you can get a loud “pop” sound that is unique as well. The point is, depending on what Carbo-Rods you use and on what portion of the Carbo-Rods you strike the instrument with, and on how soft or loud you play, the Carbo-Rod is an effect stick that will produce a wide variety of sounds.

Note:
The composition and diameters of the carbon fiber dowels comprising a Carbo-Rods will determine the sound that each Carbo-Rods will produce. The diameters involved in each Carbo-Rods composition are either 4.00mm diameter filaments or 5.20mm diameter filaments. Carbostick further distinguishes between a seven (7) order construction or an eight (8) order construction of Carbo-Rods. This means that a Carbo-Rods will either be a seven (7) piece construction or an eight (8) piece construction. The seven (7) piece construction Carbo-Rods will have seven 4.00mm diameter carbon fiber filaments that are bundled in a very stable hexagonal construction around one 4.00mm carbon fiber filament. The seven 4.00mm package will have a total outer diameter of 13.4mm. All Carbo-Rods diameters are based on either the standard 7A drumstick, the standard 5A drumstick, or the standard 5B drumstick ranging from 13.4mm diameter, a 15.5mm diameter, and a 16.5mm diameter. All Carbo-Rods diameters will be the same as 7A drumstick, 5A drumstick, and 5B drumstick diameters so that the drummer doesn’t have to alter nor change his balance points or frame of reference. Carbo-Rods are totally retro to drumsticks exhibiting all characteristics of drumsticks so that the drummer doesn’t have to “reinvent” nor rearrange his/her playing style in order to use a Carbo-Rods. This would be like the “tail wagging the dog” and something we want to totally avoid. The Carbo-Rods is engineered to resemble and feel like a drumstick. The difference is in the sound generated by Carbo-Rods.
