Jimi started recording with Pure Nickel strings. That's one of the sounds you hear. Yeah, there are lots of amps involved, but the very beginning sound came from the strings. The pure nickel outer wrap has a special Vintage tone that no other string has. We've reproduced that original Hendrix Pure Nickel String.
