The Epiphone Limited Edition ES-335 PRO brings a vintage workhorse into the future with Epiphone's Alnico Classic PRO humbuckers and coil-tapping. The original ES-335 was a breakthrough guitar design when it was introduced in 1958. In many ways, the "335" was every bit as revolutionary as the solid-body Les Paul. The ES-335 put classic guitar styling - like the iconic archtop profile and violin inspired f-holes - into the hands of kids who were hungry to play rock and roll and look cool. The ES-335 was light. It was loud. And it definitely wasn't a traditional jazz guitar. Best of all, it was a new sound.
Now, Epiphone introduces the Ltd. Ed. ES-335 PRO, a new take on the legendary semi-hollowbody archtop with all the classic ES-335 features, but now with Epiphone's Alnico Classic PRO(TM) pickups with coil-tapping along with the superb build quality and great sound that you've come to expect from Epiphone. Finicky vintage models (with vintage problems) can't compete with the Ltd. Ed. ES-335 PRO, which is simply one of the best deals going today for guitar players who want the classic sound of an ES-335 at an affordable price.
The Birth of a Rock and Roll Legend
The original ES-335 launched in 1958 and kicked off an incredible era for the legendary Gibson/Epiphone factory located in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Along with now-classic Epiphone semi-hollowbody designs like the Epiphone Riviera and the Epiphone Sheraton, the ES-335 quickly gained a following among guitar players of all ages. Though perhaps the original designers of the ES-335 imagined it might be preferred most by jazz players, the ES-335 was quickly embraced by rock, country, and rhythm and blues guitarists in the U.S. and the United Kingdom. The original ES-335 has the distinction of inspiring not only artists from the early rock and roll era but the '60s blues revival, new wave, Britpop and Americana as well. The few vintage models that have survived are high-price tag collectibles that rarely get out of a glass case. Now, the Epiphone Ltd. Ed. ES-335 PRO goes one better than vintage by adding modern features along with Epiphone's superb build quality to go with that classic ES-335 sound.
The Ltd. Ed. ES-335 PRO is protected by Epiphone's famous Lifetime Limited Warranty featuring Gibson 24/7/365 Customer Service which guarantees the Ltd. Ed. ES-335 PRO from defects in materials or workmanship. Every guitar player needs an ES-335 and now is your chance to get what might be the best one yet.
Classic Look with a Futuristic Sound
The top and back of the Epiphone Ltd. Ed. ES-335 PRO are constructed of five-ply laminated maple/birch and the side is made from three-ply laminated maple/birch with a mahogany center block. There is single-ply cream binding on the top and back of the Ltd. Ed. ES-335 PRO as well as on the fingerboard. The multi layer black pickguard features a classic silver Epiphone "E." The glued-in, 24.75" scale mahogany neck has a 1960s SlimTaper(TM) "D" profile, perfect for lead, rhythm and chord styles. The smooth rosewood fingerboard has a 12" radius, 22 medium jumbo frets, a 1.68" nut and pearloid small block inlays beginning at the 3rd fret. The Sloped Dovewing Epiphone headstock has '60s-era "Epiphone" script with a "pineapple" logo and a black Kalamazoo-era styled truss rod cover with "ES-335 PRO" in white. Tuning is a breeze with Wilkinson(TM) Vintage Classic "tulip" style green machine heads with a 14:1 ratio.
Alnico Classic Pro Power
Epiphone always finds a way to make improvements on classic designs and the Ltd. Ed. ES-335 PRO is no exception. Now featuring Epiphone Alnico Classic PRO four-wire humbuckers in the neck and bridge positions, the Ltd. Ed. ES-335 PRO offers a tonal palette that far exceeds any other guitar of its kind or of its era. The Alnico Classic PROs feature Alnico V magnets for terrific humbucker sustain with a huge dynamic range that can go from clean to crunch at a touch. And now, for the first time, the Ltd. Ed. ES-335 PRO features coil-tapping on both pickups via a push/pull control on the pickups' volume controls.
Hardware Built to Last
Like all Epiphones, the Ltd. Ed. ES-335 PRO features quality electronics including full-size 1" 500K Ohm potentiometers, black TopHat controls for volume and tone for both the neck and bridge pickup, Epiphone's all-metal pickup selector switch with a classic aged yellow top and a heavy-duty output jack.
And no Epiphone would be complete without Epi's solid nickel hardware, like the time-tested LockTone(TM) bridge and StopBar tailpiece, which yields incredible sustain.
