During the late 1950's in an effort to boost sales of the Les Paul Model, Gibson abandoned the familiar gold finish and used a translucent, cherry sunburst finish which showed off the figured maple tops that were often used. The renamed Les Paul Standard made its debut in 1958. VOS series guitars are faithful recreations of Gibson's iconic models and capture the richness of a Gibson guitar that has been aging and gently played over the last 50 years. Vintage Finish
Aged to perfection, Gibson VOS (Vintage Original Specs) guitars undergo an "aging process" for an oxidized finish and all the dings and scratches you would expect from a well-worn guitar. VOS series guitars look and feel like a 50-year-old guitar should.
