Hartke AK4 4-String Bass (Black)

The Hartke name has come to be associated with outstanding bass amplifier tone and masterfully high production quality. It seemed to be a matter of time before they started to produce a line of bass guitars to compliment their line of amplification, and when they did, the instruments were of commensurate quality with their other products.

The AK line now has a new member, with the addition of the AK4, which is a 4-string version of the popular AK5. It features a basswood body with a sleek "belly cut" design. Appropriately named, basswood is desirable material for a bass guitar body, due to the sustain it gives. The 24-fret neck is made of Maple and has a Rosewood fingerboard. Two "Soap-bar" pickups drive a 2-band active EQ for precise tonal control, and the Chrome bridge is of heavy-duty construction.

Larry Hartke is committed to excellence in bass tone. His company has not expanded beyond bass products, and that shows the focus that his instruments and amplifiers demonstrate so well.
