Spalted mango has a unique tonal characteristic that has the midrange of mahogany but the roundness of spruce, commented Drew Lewis. The difficulties in crafting an instrument with spalted mango are greatly outweighed by the resulting tone and striking appearance.
Lanikai’s SM ukuleles feature mahogany necks, rosewood fingerboards, gold plated Grover tuning machines, spalted mango headstock overlay, and come equipped with Aquila strings.
