Same Day Music is an
authorized dealer of
Reason has reached the next level. Stronger, swifter and smoother to work with, Reason 5 will alter the way you create your music. Reason's new devices and features will not only inspire you to produce great tracks, they will provide you with new ways of doing so.
New in Reason 5:Kong Drum Designer16 pads. 16 drums. 9 drum modules. 11 support generators and effects. Analog synthesis, physical modeling, sampling, REX loops, flexible routing, multiple hit types...we could go on. The Kong Drum Designer is not your regular drum module. It's the drum module focused on letting you get exactly that drum sound you're after.
With the Kong Drum Designer, Reason 5 offers a simple yet extremely powerful new approach to drums. Kong has 16 pads and 16 drums and allows you to build drum sounds based on any of the nine different drum modules. Flavor the sound with 11 support generators and effects. You can program automation, create alternating groups and let Reason's powerful sequencer control the beat.
Dr. Octo RexThe upgraded Dr. Octo Rex loop player loads eight REX loops into one player and lets you switch between them on the fly. This makes arranging a breeze - load drum loops into one player, guitars into another and use the sequencer to select what loop to play in a pattern-like fashion. Dr. Octo Rex was designed to satisfy even the most experimentally minded. With eight loops to switch between, the possibilities are practically endless. Set the player to retrigger loops on the beat, for example, or on the bar...or the 16th note...or,
whatever. And, if you miss the original rex player, you can even program the loops manually. For each of the eight loops, the new rex player also comes with an expanded set of per-slice settings. Set pan, pitch, filter frequency and level, reverse slices, use multiple outputs, create alternating groups of slices and much more.
Live SamplingRemember when samples were something you could, well...sample? Do you feel a fondness for the days when a sampler was a machine that could actually
record samples instead of just playing them back? Us too. That's why we love Reason 5's new live sampling input. All sample players in Reason are now samplers. Just hook up a sound source to the rack's sampling input and you are ready to start sampling. So, go nuts! Use a mic, a turntable, an instrument or the entire Reason mix.
BlocksWhich situation sounds more familiar: "Alright, band, let's take it from bar 63! You know, four bars before bar 67?" or "Alright, band, let's take it from the chorus!" As musicians, we have our own language and we communicate with terms such as "intro," "verse," "chorus," "breakdown" and so on. With the new Blocks mode in Reason 5 your sequencer does too.
Blocks lets you sequence your songs using a pattern-based approach, with the segments of your song as individual building blocks to be laid out in your arrangement. With the basic arrangement laid out, you can see the contents of the blocks and create variations and mute individual parts, or add further musical elements in "Song Mode".
Use Blocks to create a backing track, for example, then use the song mode sequencer to record vocals or instrumental performances. For music based around a single looped section, one repeated block with automation and mutes of individual tracks added in song mode makes arranging a breeze.
You never have to commit to using either mode - you're free to move back and forth between Blocks and Song mode, and any changes you make in your Blocks will instantly be manifested in all instances of that Block. Need some tambourine on that chorus? Add it, and there will be tambourine whenever the chorus block is playing.
Highlights in Reason 5:Thor Polysonic SynthesizerThor is a semi modular synth with interchangeable oscillators and filters. With its six oscillator types, four filter types and endless modulation possibilities, this synth comes with a sound like nothing else on the planet.
RPG-8 Monophonic ArpeggiatorA powerful arpeggiator with multiple play modes, pattern function and much more.
ReGroove MixerReGroove mixing is a way to work creatively with grooves, timing and feel in real time. Hands-on access to 32 channels of groove parameters will make this an essential tool for any musician who is serious about their beats programming.
