Acoustic Roots
Pure acoustic styling is identical on all GS Series models. Taylor changes only the wood combinations, creating four new and unique tones.
A Little Equals a Lot
Small changes go a long way. A higher, wider waist and a rounder lower bout add up to a big difference in tone.
Another Taylor Flavor
Deep, piano-like bass, rich mids and clear, balanced highs. And plenty of volume. This is the new GS.
It's About Tone
All four models sell for about the same price. Try each one and let tone be your guide.
Grand Symphony Shape
Though you might see similarities to a Grand Auditorium, the GS is unique in both sound and shape. Significant changes in its geometry yield a deeper, more piano-like bass. A wider lower bout and higher, wider waist return ample volume and low-end sustain, in symphony with fuller mids and balanced highs.
Gloss Finish
The finish used to create this guitar's lustrous gloss top, back, and sides was developed at Taylor for maximum durability and resistance to cold-checking. This ultra violet-cured finish is also more environmentally friendly than traditional lacquer finishes.
Mahogany/Cedar
The Tropical American mahogany/Western Red cedar combination is a true powerhouse. It's one of Taylor's favorites, and a natural choice to be among the inaugural models in the GS Series. Like all GS models, it has "pure acoustic" detailing: abalone micro dot inlays, Ivoroid binding, abalone rosette, and rosewood peghead veneer.
Top: Western Red cedar
Back & sides: Tropical American mahogany
Maple/Spruce
You'll detect distinct tonal differences as you move from model to model within the GS Series. The Big Leaf maple/Sitka spruce combination is stunning from first glance, and clear and articulate from first listen. If you thought you knew the maple guitar sound, think again.
Top: Sitka spruce
Back & sides: Big Leaf maple
Rosewood/Cedar
Indian rosewood and Western Red cedar is a pairing that is traditionally among Taylor's best-selling models. The softness of cedar will yield subtle differences in tone when compared to the rosewood/spruce combination.
Top: Western Red cedar
Back & sides: Indian rosewood
Rosewood/Spruce
For many guitar enthusiasts, Indian rosewood is the definitive tonewood. Paired with a Sitka spruce top, it's a traditional combination that sings in the GS body shape. Taylor expects this to be the "go-to" GS model for many players.
Top: Sitka spruce
Back & sides: Indian rosewood
