"MCD...about time...its what the 2000XL should have been in the first place!!!"
Sound:
Its the Bomb. I love these things...they have a certai groove about them and them some more. I tried software, then an MPC 4000 (which was great and had lots of nice features (but way too much for my percussive needs), and then the Roland MV....But when I demoed the 2000xl with the new card reader, I thought this has to be it. The sound is crisp and is good as you put in. Using high quality TRS cables and clean sources, and appropriate gains and recording levels...I was able to achieve great samples for single shot drums.
Feature:
16 levels, Wicked pads, the Swing, MCD card reader, no USB though (well...its one less thing to worry about I suppose), its well featured alright.
Quality:
Amazing...feels solid and the pads are the best in business.
Manufacturer Support:
Not sure...never had to use the support.
Value:
Well worth it. I was nervous at first about spending this kind of cash on a drum machine...but its well worth it if you can make grooves like I can.
The Wow Factor:
It looks mean...now that its blue and i love the fact that its not bulky like the MPC 4000 (which i have owned). its really nice to look at, and it has a clear layout...not a million buttons everywhere.
Overall:
Pads, Software, hardware, etc.... Nothing replaces the real thing...but the MPC does a great job for natural grooves that swing and have a feel that software cannot create.
