"Computers & Drum machines finally merge as one."

Sound:

The sound is superb. I've used it for its pre's as well and was shocked to find out how nice it sounded.

Feature:

The best feature I've found is through the software upgrades. I recently upgraded from ver. 1.40 to the recent 1.71 and noticed some very important changes. For starters, when the unit is powered off, it would NOT retain your settings, ie: sync features. Now with this new O.S., it keeps your previous setup.

Quality:

Nice build. I'm pretty sure Akai's Q&A department is use to this, since they've been at this for some time now.

Manufacturer Support:

I don't have any negative feed-back. I've never needed there on-line support since they already have what you need posted on the website.

The Wow Factor:

It's one of a kind. The Original...

Overall:

I'm content with this machine. As is, it does what I need it to do. When I'm ready, I'll take advantage of the optional accessories.

"The MPC 4000 is a BEAST!"

Sound:

The sound is HOT! I use it with Pro Tools and I can bounce tracks as .wav and drag the files into my MPC 4000 via Akai Aksys. I loose no sonic quality.

Feature:

My MPC 4000 came equipped with 512MB of Ram and 60gig hard drive. You can add the 8 outputs/spdif and upgrade the hard drive. The features are perfect for the sample-based producer and real time effects is a plus.

Quality:

The product is solid. However, the hard drives that ship with the machines are not great. Most people I know including myself had to upgrade the hard drive because the existing drives burn out. Sometimes the cursor buttons will stick. I'm a power user so you may have better luck.

Manufacturer Support:

The website is pretty good at providing updates. You should run the latest operation system software available. You can hear and see the improvements from the older operating systems.

Value:

I think the price tag was a little steep because I bought mine when it first debuted. They came down in price and it's a good value. You can't deny the power and it is the best MPC series ever built. I've owned and used every MPC series and this is by far the best. No question!

The Wow Factor:

I use the MPC 4000 with sound modules and Pro Tools via midi. I have the MPC 4000 connected to my G5 via USB.

Overall:

This is my last drum machine sampler/sequencer. It gets no better.

Akai MPC4000 Plus 24-Bit, 96kHz Music Production Center Customer Review

Sound:

The MPC4000 has it all add a controller keyboard, Mac or PC and download Aksys networking software from the Akai Pro web site and you have a very powerful setup for producing music. I going to touch on some ways to use the MCP4000 in the studio. With Aksys open, double click on a wav and it will open up into the wav editor of your choice. Edit the wav and send it back to the MPC4000. I use the MPC4000 to sequence Reason, Kontack and other software synths with Sonar 3 Producer as the host. You can also sequence stand alone software synths. Turn your computer into a powerful synth rack to use with the MPC4000. You really don't need any other keyboards, the MPC4000 is a very very powerful sampler. You need new synth sounds and samples, just buy CR roms and store them on the hard drive of the MPC4000 or on your computer. There are so many features to the MPC4000 and ways to use it I can go on and on. Don't listen to threads that downplay the MPC4000. Buy the MPC4000 and see for yourself.

"Blue MPC 4K - The Best"

Sound:

what a crisp sound!!! this thing sounds so sweet and it has very clean converters.

Feature:

too many to list...its magic to work with.

Quality:

the mpc 4k is built like a tank. i have the new blue version, and its still the don of mpc's...and its looks even better in the new blue.
