"A decent mic for the money, especially in the "twofer" package."
Feature:I purchased 2 for a radio station long before the presence adapter was offered. I found that leaving off the hyper adapter and just running it in cardioid mode was fine.
Quality:
Looks very ruggedly made.
Value:
Very good value for the money.
Desirability:
AKG seems to have changed the color to a silver. I bought them when the color was a dark gray. The color does not affect the sound, however.
Sound:
Very good sound for voice. It tends to pop if you get too close to it. A pop screen takes care of that easily.
Ease of Use:
What can I say? Plug it in, point it in the right direction and get a good sound.
Support:
There has been no need to contact AKG as the mics worked out well for over a dozen years.
Overall:
I added an AKG C-4500-BBC for DJ use, as it is pretty impervious to breath pops when used close up, and it looks sexy. The 1000's are still used for interviews and things like that.

"A truly awflul sounding mic"
Feature:It includes a rather pointless pattern converter which needs to be screwed on. A switch would be more sensible....
Quality:
Construction looks and feels cheap. Mic is overly large...
Value:
There are much better mics for this monet... See Rode and Audio Technica.
Sound:
Simp,y put... this is a terrible sounding mic.. Thin, lacking in detail, coloured and easily clipped... A plastic sony minidisc mic sounds infinitely better
Support:
Neutral.... no need to deal with AKG

"versatile!"
Sound:I own 3 of these mics and use them in a church setting. The interchangable element covers make this one versatile mic! I use for choir, for miking instruments (strings, mostly), and as a vocal mic. Great tone, crisp response. Works well with compression.
