"An Outstanding Product!"
This reviewer purchased this item from Same Day Music.
Feature:
The features: a bass roll-off switch and a +6db boost are largely ignored except under abnormal conditions. If you use it on a mike stand, it is mostly set it and forget it.
Quality:
The quality is excellent. I was also very impressed with the padded hard shell carrying case it comes with.
Value:
I think the value -vs- price equation is about right.
Desirability:
The "tri" design of the barrel is appealing and has a nice feel in your hand. The biggest "I Want It" contributing factor for me was the difference in sound between my old dynamic mike and this new condenser mike.
Sound:
After having used exclusively an AKG D3800BT for my live stage vocals for the last 15 years, I was generally impressed with its overall performance. Others in the band were using Shure SM-58's but they sounded a little too "boomy" to me. I sat in with another group, stepped up to their AKG C5900M and immediately knew that I *had* to have one of these condenser mikes. After having used it for two performances, there is no doubt that this is the best sounding microphone I have ever used. With the old mike, it seemed like the monitors lost their punch after the first set. I now realize that it was the mike. The C5900M just punches through and delivers clear, crisp sound throughout the entire performance.
Overall:
This microphone more than satified my expectations. The other members of my band were completely blown away by the dynamics. I expect to be using this microphone for a long time to come.
