"Excellent sound and value"
Feature:
Light weight and comfortable. They look large, but are surprisingly comfortable. The AKG 'floating headband' design is ingenious. The long lead is good for me as I don't have to sit on top of the amp to use them. This would be a nuisance if you were using them for a portable music player.
Quality:
Haven't had these 'phones long, but they seem well made
Value:
Listened to things many times the price, came back to these. Slightly better meant many times the price. My previous 'phones were Stax SR-44's
Desirability:
It looks absolutely boring to me - but I'm way past being bothered by what anyone thinks of my appearance! (I'm the boring practical sort... ex white Volvo driver! ha ha) Some think it looks 'cool' - my daughter.
Sound:
I regularly play pipe organ in public, regularly accompanying vocalists, and play a large piano at home... occasionally the violin as well. I have a pretty good idea of what a realistic sound is. Lots of so called quality products on the market are far from accurate. Not everyone likes accurate. Power to them. These 'phones are cruel to poor recordings, and make good ones 'sing.'I'm enjoying going through my music collection hearing things I've not noticed before. They keep complex orchestral and choral passages well sorted. Nothing beats live music... but we can't have that on demand!
Ease of Use:
Ummm... take the one plug, stick it in the headphone socket of your amp, put some music on, sit back and take your musical transport of delight to wherever you will! Nothing hard about this!
Support:
Haven't had to test this, but AKG have a good reputation.
Overall:
These are closed 'phones. They stop noise both ways. It's what I need for where I'm using them. I'd prefer an open design if they were practical for me.
