"My wife thinks my DM5 pro is sexy. "

This reviewer purchased this item from Same Day Music.

    Feature:
This kit came with Surge cymbals, the ride is a dual zone along with the snare. The pads are only 8 inch pads so i have a much smaller target compared to my pearl kit and take a little time to get used to. You can build your own kits from the sound bank in the module, You can adjust the mix of each trigger to include volume, pitch, velocity etc. The surge cymbals are pretty impressive, they are real brass cymbals with a trigger and some type of clear coating on the bottom to reduce the noise. the respond and feel like accostic and look really good. The heads are real drum heads, and respond like accostic. you can also adjust the tension of the heads. and replace them with whatever drum heads you want.

    Quality:
So far it seems to be holding up well. The rack is pretty sturdy and everything seems to be able to take the abuse. Time will tell.

    Value:
For the money, you cant beat it. It is comparable to the Roland TD4 but for about half the price and has more user adjustments. It also has a midi in and out so you can add unlimited sounds to your kit from any of the available drum software on the market via your lap top and a midi cable

    Desirability:
The best thing going aesthetc wise with this kit is the Surge cymbals. it adds to the look of this kit along with the black and chrome accents. and looks alot more like an accostic kit than some of the others out there for alot more dough.

    Sound:
This is my first E-kit. I went to several music stores in my area and played the Roland, and Yamaha kits. I bought the DM5 with surge cymbals, and have to say for the money the sounds are pretty good. I wasnt real impressed at first with the sounds coming from my head phones, but then I connected it to my Simmons DA200 amp and WOW! For the price of this kit (750.00) It rivals the Roland TD4. With a good amp this kit comes to life.

    Ease of Use:
The kit is fairly easy to use. considering that ive never owned an E-kit, its was a matter of playing around with the module and making adjustments. The owners manual is pretty basic, and dosent offer a ton of information. Within a coule of hours of messing around the module I was able to figure most of it out.

    Overall:
Im really diggin this kit. I plan on keeping it in the family and pass it down since my 11 year old daughter has decided she wants to learn the world of drumming. I will probably eventually upgrade to the DM10 that has just hit the market only because the pads seem to be bigger, and Alesis seems to be competing with the higher end Roland models again for about half the price of the Roland.

    Alesis DM5 Pro Customer Review

    Feature:
again hear a 10 no other comes close for this price you have alot of features to get all sounds sounding even from decebal to gain to sensitivity and alot more

    Quality:
i gave it a 9 hear for the foot pedal you have to play it with your heal flat footed to get that sist like sound that all rock drummers use thats unatural from a real set and the pedal could be better but it is good though

    Value:
hear is wear it realy deserves a 10 the quality for the money is awsome love the real drum heads the smaller heads force you to be acurate making real kits seam easy to play

    Desirability:
    had to have it

    Sound:
I believe that when you rate something you should compare it to others on market and i played alot .for $599 compared to the price of a roland it deserves a 10 ,every sound on the kit can be tweaked unlike the roland kit for $900 wich gives you the impression your paying just to own a roland not to own a great product like the Dm5 I set my #00 drum kit to my own kit and left the rest default.you just select for exAmple the snare and you have a ton of differnet snares to choose from or you can record real kits and input the sounds into the midi port

    Ease of Use:
not hard to use for tweaking but not easy either but for 600 it is

    Overall:
i gave it a 9 for the foot pedal witch is not as good as the rest of the set
