"Very satisfied!"
This reviewer purchased this item from Same Day Music.
I can't think of anything I would like to be added to this product. All I really wanted was decent preamps in a USB interface with good drivers and ASIO compatibility. The MIDI in/out is icing on the cake, if I ever use it.
Quality:
This does not feel like a toy. I would not be overly worried if I dropped it. All parts were accounted for in shipping. Even though the knobs seem to stick awkwardly above the surface, they do not feel flimsy, and I wouldn't be nervous to throw it in a bag for travel.
Value:
I looked high and low for a USB sound card with preamps to find this. I tried out a MobilePre and despite the salesman's assurances that I would only notice noise if I was looking for "pro" sound, was very disappointed. For the same price, the IO2 is much less noisy, has S/PDIF and MIDI, and doesn't feel like a toy.
Desirability:
Seeing as how an audio interface box just cannot be sexy, I will make amends. It is very sleek, sturdily made, and the placements of knobs and inputs is quite original. I think it looks and feels nice.
Sound:
It sounds very nice. I tried it with my SM-58, a condenser, and a radioshack mic. The device introduced very little noise, even when the gain was maxed.
Ease of Use:
Setup was incredibly simple. I installed the drivers, plugged it in, and was set. Much of the functionality is self-explanatory so I had no problems after installing. It interfaced perfectly with FL Studio when I selected the ASIO audio device. When it taxed my laptop due to low latency, it was very simple to change the settings.
Support:
I haven't needed support, but I must say a little more documentation would be nice. There is very little information on the site, and the manual is pretty scant.
Overall:
Since I am a hobbyist musician, looking for something more expensive would not be a very good idea. For the price, this device brings me joy. If you're searching around this price range, and you come up against the MobilePre and this, the IO2 will blow it out of the water. Good luck with your decision!

"Great hardware, great MIDI , poor for recording."
This reviewer purchased this item from Same Day Music.
If you count unsupported software as an accessory.
Quality:
Product is build well with metal shousing and sturdy switches.
Value:
I got this unit to use the MIDI and low impedence inputs for recording. I can only use the MIDI to to latency issues with the Cubase softare.
Sound:
I can only get the MIDI to work. This has performed flawlessly.
Ease of Use:
I cannot get the ASIO drivers to perform adequately on my system. The MIDI ports work well.
Support:
I could not find any support from Alesis on the latency issues I am having. Cubase says to ask the provider and Alesis doesn't appear to have anything on their web site about it.
