"The Greatest Bass Amp In The Modern World!"
Sound:
1000 watts of pure Ampeg tone...need I say more? The only thing I can say that even comse close to being critical is that it is simply *too* clean...even with the tube preamp, there's simply not much of any grit to be had from this rig. Easily remedied with a preamp pedal or a smooth bass overdrive, but if your looking for something to get that balls to the walls, Jack Bruce nastiness from, this ain't it. However, if you want the creamiest, smoothest, most concise and clear bass tone known to the modern world, this amp it the solution to all of your dreams!
Feature:
This amp comes with a built in compressor, a mute and 15 dB cut switch on the face, and an FX loop with an effects blend knob...it's a very somple solution to the mounds of rack crap most use to try and replicate the beautiful tone this amop acheives without the bells and whistles! The EQ section is equally simple, with a single bass, treble and a mid with a 5 stage selector (rotary, like the rest of the controls) that gives you five distinctly different mid range bands to play with. There's also the trademark Ampeg ultra-low and ultra high switches, each adds massive amounts of the given tone range without being uncontrollable.
Ease of Use:
A player with absolutely NO CLUE how to mix a good tone can get a beautiful sound out of this amp!
Quality:
Ampeg is the standard by which all other bass amps are measured...this amp follows in that tradition.
Manufacturer Support:
Ampeg's customer support is one of the best in the industry! I've had one minor issue with my amp, which stemmed from my ineqperience with top knotch gear, and they corrected the problem in a matter of hours!
Value:
You get what you pay for. In this case, you get a whole lot more, as a 1000 watt Ampeg is easily worth much, MUCH more than they're asking!
The Wow Factor:
ONE THOUSAND WATTS OF PURE AMPEG TONE AND POWER...what more needs to be said? That's just drop dead SEXY!!!
Overall:
This is, hands down, the greatest amp I've ever played, short of *maybe* the classic, vintage Ampeg SVT tube amps from the late 60s and early 70s...but not by much! If and when you get one (and you must...really you do!), do yourself a favor and get youreslf Ampeg cabinets to go with it. I've played this amo through many different cabinets, and they all sounded better with the Ampeg powering them. BUT, to really use this amp's potential, it needs to be mated to a wall of Ampeg designed cabs! Actually it'll blast away just as good with an 8 x 10 or through a simple 2 x 10...it's a widely versitile rig that can do just about anything you need.
