"stands up to units costing twenty times more!"
Feature:i'll give it a 9 insted of a 10 only because i would like to adjust the compression ratio to MY spec. not just a button.
Quality:
it's a well designed heavy-built item, don't be afraid if you drop it. internal power supply is cool... no wall wart... would like better pots though.
Value:
stands up to units costing twenty times more!
Sound:
been using mine for 7 or 8 years now. VERY RELIABLE machine with a reliable sound. GREAT on bass guitar, gives a real consistant level. tends to ''pump'' a little when hit with loud vocals-- but less than some models costing 20x. my trim pots have been crackeling since i got it. wiggle the knobs- it seems to go away. i guess you can't expect lab-quality pots for $99. ...but again...it's only $99 a sound value at twice the price.
Overall:
i have one, my interest in buying another has led me here. i plan to buy another one tomorrow. i trust my ears, and my ears tell me ''it sounds good''. i plug mics costing many times the cost of this unit, and have no fear of unwanted tonal ''coloration''. the ART TubePac is a real nice peice.

"The first step to turn your bedroom into a studio."
Feature:The one big feature that upset me was not being to run two mics at once. I've done fine without it, but it would have been nice to have this nice, full sound on both the acoustic guitar and the vocals. It's good enough though that I might be another for the guitar.
Quality:
real equipment.
Value:
I'm really happy with it. Not much could have made it better.
Desirability:
Nothing exciting about it. It just does it's job.
Sound:
I wanted a "studio" sound in my bedroom, and this got me 99% of the way there for vocals, which is amazing. I'm using with a $200 studio projects condenser microphoen, and after a few days using it, I was able to get a sound that I was really happy with. This is a great "bedroom studio" priced preamp/compressor.
Support:
I haven't had to use support yet.
Overall:
I only wish I bought it sooner.
