ART Dual 31 Band Equalizer (Model 355) Customer Review

Quality:

The only problem with this EQ is that it's always the first piece of equipment in my rack to clip, and it doesn't do it gracefully either. Nasty popping noises, when I should be well behind its max output level.

"ART Model 355: Has RCA Connectors For Home Stereo Use."

Sound:

The audio quality of the ART Model 355 is exceptionally clean. There is not a trace of hiss, hum, buzz or any other extraneous noise.

Feature:

The ART Model 355 is one of the very few dual, 31-band equalizers to feature balanced XLR, balanced 1/4 inch TRS as well as unbalanced RCA connectors for use with home stereo equipment. There is no need to buy XLR to RCA audio cables. A line level shifter is not needed because this equalizer has a continuously variable gain control that adjusts the output volume to match the input volume from its XLR, TRS and RCA connectors. Some equalizers use pushbuttons to activate Hi pass and Low pass filters which are each pre-set to a single frequency. However, both channels of the ART Model 355 have a Hi pass filter which is continuously adjustable from 10Hz to 250Hz and a Low pass filter which is continuously adjustable from 3kHz to 40kHz.

Ease of Use:

Be aware that while the ART Model 355 has a traditional 17.25 inch case width, its faceplate is 19 inches wide. Because this equalizer was designed to be rack mounted, it may not fit inside some home stereo cabinets. It also has no feet on the bottom of its case, so it might be necessary to apply some adhesive furniture protectors if the unit is to be placed on a shelf.

Quality:

The ART Model 355 has a heavy, sturdy build quality. All buttons and sliders are solid and precise in their operation.

Manufacturer Support:

Personnel at Applied Research & Technology, Inc. (ART) are easy to reach and they are very responsive. I have had no problems, but after my call to the ART telephone number, I feel confident that any problems would be quickly resolved.

Value:

At this price level, the ART Model 355 has reached the point of diminishing returns. You would need to pay a lot more to get an equalizer that provides substantially better sound and features.

The Wow Factor:

The ART Model 355 has great style and functionality.

Overall:

I can't foresee the need to upgrade from the ART Model 355. This product has given me all of the quality and features that I want in an equalizer. This is the equalizer that I would buy again if I ever needed to replace it.
