"Best microphone for the money. Period!"
This reviewer purchased this item from Same Day Music.
Sound:
Let me preface my comments by saying that I am a voice over artist. Therefore, I mainly use this mic to record in my home studio. This review may not help with regard to recording instruments or vocalists singing. I have recorded in many other facilities and can say with 100% certainty that this mic sounds just as good if not better than microphones costing 5 times as much as the $149 I got it for. It has a beautiful sound and presence. Not to bright, and accents the lows nicely.
Feature:
Great to have the flat/roll off as well as the 10db pad switches on the back.
Ease of Use:
Does not get any easier than to plug it into my Studio Projects VTB1 Tube amp and start talking.
Quality:
Awesome quality! Built like a tank.
Manufacturer Support:
Haven't needed it
Value:
As mentioned before, at this price point you simply cannot go wrong. I have been involved in the broadcast business since 1980, so I think I know a little about audio equipment. This mic would have been around $500 just 4-5 years ago. And that would have been a bargain. It's that good.
The Wow Factor:
I don't know about sex appeal, but it is very well made. Audio Technica certainly did not cut any corners here. It is black with the AT logo on it and a little heavy. Nice looking, and even better sounding.
Overall:
If I do replace this mic it may be years from now. As we know, most microphones just get better with age, and I expect this one to just get better and better. This one will be with me for a long time. I auditioned for a job the second day I had it and booked it the next day, so it's also my good luck charm!
