"Audio Technica AD700 ATH"
This reviewer purchased this item from Same Day Music.
The soundstage is excellent. You can clearly hear where sounds are coming from in both gaming and enjoying music. The bass is light, but this doesnt mean it isnt there. You will certainly get some low notes, but they won't rattle your skull like some other cans. Personally, this is a positive for me, but bassheads may view it differently.
These cans are for at home use only for me. They are way too big and way too ugly for street use. The fitment of these cans is a little unusual. I have a normal sized mellow (about 7 3/8 hat size) and these are a little loose. There are simple things you can do to make these fit better. The Phat Pad mod and the rubber band mod cost pennies, take no time, dont void warranty, and really enabled me to custom tailor these to my liking.
Ease of Use:
THESE DO REQUIRE SOME BURN-IN! Listen to them straight out of the box and you will likely not be overly impressed. Run them at a normal volume level overnight for a couple days and you will hear them transform into what you were hoping for.
Product is well made, the cord is nice, and for $100 cans, you will be hard-pressed to find better.
Haven't needed to contact the manufacturer...as it should be.
In the $100 price range, these are great multi-purpose cans for anyone who doesnt require pounding bass to be happy.
The Wow Factor:
The first wow is "HOLY CRAP, these things are gigantic and purple!" Luckily the second wow comes after about 40-50 hours of burn in when you start hearing them as they are meant to be heard.
After much deliberation I decided to pull the trigger on these cans. A little research will reveal a couple common thoughts from other reviewers; the soundstage is awesome, the bass is light, and they are HUGE! All of these are accurate, but require a little clarification which I will provide below. My review is based on 80% gaming and 20% music listening.
