"B-52 Prodigy FX Not Best Buy For The Dollar"
This reviewer purchased this item from Same Day Music.
The sound quality produced by this mixer/cd player is excellent.
The trak finder on the cd players allows one to located tracks on a cd in a matter of seconds (three seconds or less). Making loops on the unit is easy and when done correctly is seamless. It has place for three mic's. It has kill switches on the equilizer.
Ease of Use:
The B-52 Prodigy FX is very easy to use. The loop feature is also very easy to use.
The quality of the components is what makes a product. In the case of the Prodigy FX, too many components are made of inferior products. The cd players are poor quality. The receptacle for the power cord is poor quality. The receptacles for the mic jacks are poor quality. The fader is poor quality.
Only called one time to see if they had received my unit. No problem in contacting the manufacturer.
The B-52 Prodigy FX is highly overpriced. They value for the dollar is just not there. It should be taken off the market.
The Wow Factor:
The B-52 Prodigy FX is a very professional looking piece of equipment. It does have many desirable features but not to the point that I couldn't do without it. This was one of my most disappointing purchases. More hype than it can deliver.
The Prodigy FX is loaded with many desirable features but because of the quality of the components that make this mixer/cd player, is not able to deliver. The Prodigy FX is not a unit I would recommend for a professional or mobile DJ. Because this unit is so unreliable, I would recommend it for in-home use only. The cd players are prone not to read cd's that have been loaded into them. Sometimes the cd reader will display "error" and will not read the cd or play it. If the same cd is ejected and then reinserted, it will then read the same cd and play it. The cd players are prone also to cd jam. There is a stated procedure (in the operator's manual) for retrieving cd's that become stuck in the cd players but this procedure does not always work. I bought not only the Prodigy FX but also the Prodigy (a cheaper version of the Prodigy FX). Both units are plagued with the same problems. Within five minutes of playing the Prodigy for the first time, a cd became stuck in the cd player. The B-52 Prodigy FX and Prodigy are products with high prices with inferior components and should not be on the market. They are buyer beware products!
