"not wonderful, but definitely not a bad buy"
This reviewer purchased this item from Same Day Music.
Wish there was phantom power on the mic input, and more gain on the input (often have to turn up the gain to max or very near max even for medium or medium-low volume situations - even when feeding it a pretty hot signal.) Power cord is ridiculously short, don't know why the couldn't have made it a LITTLE longer, good grief. Not a huge problem...just another extension cord to carry around. Knobs stick out a little from the back meaning they are susceptible to bumping/bending when transporting. Other than that, great! 400watts, very small light package...plenty of good things about it.
Quality:
Well, I bought 2, one of them works fine, the other one was dead on arrival (won't turn on.) 1 outta 2 ain't bad...I guess...obviously will return and get one that works, but it is annoying to have to deal with that.
Value:
Would be tough to find a better value in anything around this price range. Could be better, but 230 bucks is by far the best deal out there that I could find for anything remotely similar.
Desirability:
umm...I'm not real proud to have behringer's and kinda wish their logo wasn't so big on the front of the speaker...but at least it's not paisley-purple with warts sticking out or something.
Sound:
A little boxy, low lows just aren't there at ALL, (below 70 or 80hz or so), a little harsher than I'd like, but I'm picky - really they're pretty reasonable/good for the price.
Ease of Use:
Can't really think how it would be much easier to use unless they had a JBL-style self-calibration-eq feature that would automatically tune to the room!
Overall:
I think this is a very decent speaker all around - not perfect, but definitely not a bad way to go if you can't afford mackie srm450's or something similar. If behringer would offer a powered 15in. sub then you could build a really decent system. 18in. doesn't make sense to carry around if you're doing one-man acoustic shows in coffee houses and taverns.
