Style of Music: Hendrix/Stevie Ray Vaughan rock, punk, '80's metal (Iron Maiden)

Experience: Jimi Hendrix with Mittens! (returning amateur, that is!)

    "Versatile and affordable classic, baby!!"

This reviewer purchased this item from Same Day Music.

    Sound:
The amp and guitar sound pretty good for rock & metal. I'm sure if you wanted to play jazz, you might be a little more disappointed (or maybe I haven't played around with the amp tone settings enough to get a jazz sound with it). The strings on the guitar buzz sometimes (but these strings would need to be replaced right away if you're doing more than just practicing and messing around with it at home-- but you're gonna buy or have more strings around already, right?). You're not getting a Strat sound or quality with this set, but it's definitely better than all of the other entry-level guitars that I've played or owned.
    Feature:
The package includes everything you need to get started, except for a tuner (which I'd rather buy separately anyhow!). The guitar looks and feels pretty solid for the price-- it's very comfortable playing it standing or seated. The set doesn't obviously have more expensive features in it (such as a more quality whammy bar or an adjustable height bridge, for example), so don't expect too much.
    Quality:
Everything is assembled well. I'm taking a couple of points off on the guitar because it's not quite up to par cosmetically: the varnish / lacquer on the top of fretboard looks really sloppy (but probably isn't noticeable except to the player). More importantly, however, the guitar is mechanically well-built, including the chrome tuning pegs. Obviously the guitar doesn't have all of the features or more expensive parts, and I don't need these yet anyhow. Finish = 7, Fit = 9, so I'll give quality an 8 overall. Maybe more like 8.5 because the amp has a great fit and finish.
    Manufacturer Support:
I haven't dealt with support. Their web site www.behringer.com is actually worth visiting. They have an online guitar tuner, if you'd rather not use relative tuning (which I admit, relative tuning is only useful once you get the guitar perfectly in tune to start out with, if that makes any sense)!
    Value:
Value is the key to this package!! You want a cheap guitar? Buy this one! The amp is a keeper if you ever want to upgrade your guitar someday, but I'm more than happy with the guitar too and I'll keep it for many years I think! Even if I do get better and more serious, I'd keep the guitar as a backup. Or if I do ever get as good as Hendrix, I'd buy this set just to smash it up on stage, hell yeah!!!
    The Wow Factor:
Hey, Strats (and copies of Strats) are sexy classics, what can I say?? Solid German design! I wanted it, I got it, I love it!
    Overall:
I can't complain for the price that I paid for this. You'll probably want to replace the thin cord, buy new picks, and get more strings for the guitar (which you'd probably do with any package anyhow). After buying it, however, I almost wish I would've bought the Behringer "Vintager" guitar package, because it has a tube amp instead with all of the other things being the same. Of course, I could always get that later on and have both, heh heh!

"The guitar or the amp are worth the $$$ alone, but both together on the same plate with all the trimmings? Happy Thanksgiving!"

    Sound:
Sure, it's not a real Strat, but what do you expect. If you are just beginning, your not likely going to sound great anyway. This is a perfect starter package for a beginner, I'd recomend it at double the price.
    Feature:
You simply can't ask for more. I need a small practice amp for my bass. The amp alone is worth the money. Well featured, versitile and portable. If you want more features for the money, you're just plain greedy.
    Quality:
This package is made far better than I expected. Cheap guitar strap and crappy strings, but these can easily be changed with all the money you saved.
    Manufacturer Support:
I haven't had to deal with Behringer. I also have a BX1200 bass amp which has been working beyond perfect. It's my hope that the quality of their products keeps up and I don't need to phone for help. No complaints. I feel if they put the same quality in their service/support as they do with what they make, I honestly don't vision a problem.
    Value:
Can't be beat. Other starter packages just can't touch this deal at much greater prices.
    The Wow Factor:
Okay, I already got it... I mostly play bass, but now I play guitar alot more. Great job, Behringer.
    Overall:
Why would I be searching for another guitar get-up? Unless I start becoming famous or something, this little sucker rocks. It's cheap enough that I likely wouldn't even be angry if one of my clumbsy guitar buddies broke it. Great deal!

Style of Music: Rock & rock

"My first electic guitar & amp, and I love it!"

This reviewer purchased this item from Same Day Music.

    Sound:
The sound is very good for a first electric guitar. I have a acusotic guitar & I make alot of mistakes on it. With this guitar & amp we can play around with the amp settings & guitar a sound great. I really like the way it sounds when I play the heavy riffs. It also sounds goods with the light chords. It so easy, when every one tries to please me.
    Feature:
Comes with everything you need except a tuner, which you will need because the guitar comes easily out of tune.
    Quality:
The guitar & amp are very good quality(I rate it a 9). But the strings are crap(I rate them a 5). You have to tune it every time you use it. It might be because the strings are the worst. The light E broke while I was tuning it. I have replaced all stings with D'Addario EXL110 & it sounds better & doesn't need to be tuned as much. The strape, the bag, wire, & picks are cheap(I rate them a 7). But its good enough to get started on.
    Value:
A great value for the price. Lets face it how many of us are going to play for years to come & play in a rock & roll band? Not many. So this is a great way to try to play the guitar & not fell bad if we don't play very well, hate it, or stop playing after 6 months because we only spend $100. Now, if you do love then this is a great guitar & amp to learn to play on & the next guitar & amp can cost you $600-$1000 on a good set up & you will be happy.
    The Wow Factor:
The guitar looks like a fender strat or any other guitar out there. There is nothing special about it but it looks good. It looks like a standard guitar, a copy, but what do you want for $100. It reallt doesn't matter what it looks like, this set up gives you a chance to learn to play the guitar, that sounds good, for a great price.
    Overall:
I thinks its the best package out there. I still would not have gotten any other one. Its sounds goods, looks good, works good, plays good, & is inexpensive. What more do you want?

"One heck of a guitar for a great price"

This reviewer purchased this item from Same Day Music.

    Sound:
Overall it sounds great. There are a few issues with the sound squealing at times if i'm extremely close to the amp or if the instrument cable comes close to any metal. Otherwise the Guitar plays beautifully. All this really needs is a Distortion or Effects pedal.
    Feature:
This guitar comes with all you need to play right on the spot. The only things I have yet to use in the set are the strap that came with it (As I'm using a custom one) and the picks (I'm using Dunlops instead of the Behringer).
    Quality:
The Guitar is well built, and so is the Amplifier. The gig bag is quality enough to get the job done. It seems it will hold up. THe knobs are attached well.
    The Wow Factor:
It looks like a Fender in appearance. Even though I dont use guitar in my band during shows, I do write songs with it.
    Overall:
I'm pretty satisified and should be satisified until this thing finally gets destroyed by me inadvertanly (Which I hope is not for a long, long time.) I mainly choose this due to the Price:Feature ratios. The only thing I would suggest is to get an Effects pedal, and a stand for the guitar.

    "Awesome for the price; 8/10"

This reviewer purchased this item from Same Day Music.

    Sound:
The sound of the guitar is very good. I had doubts that it would be able to do heavy metal-esque sound, but the amp does the job beautifully. The strings on the guitar are actually decent and lasted a few months before I felt I needed to change them.
    Feature:
The pack is awesome, it comes with very good accessories. One complaint is that the strap sucks; spend $12 and get a decent one.
    Quality:
The guitar is made well, so is the amp. It's not a Fender but it's PERFECT for beginning. And if you figure out a way to get rid of the sticker at the neck, it looks exactly like a Fender. The gig bag is alright, but a hard case is well worth the money. The amp is beautiful, no trouble at all.
    Manufacturer Support:
    Didnt need to.
    Value:
For the price, nothing beats it.
    The Wow Factor:
It looks sexy, and you will have no embarassment toting it around.

It sounds alright for a 110 dollar guitar. The amp is amazing. My grandpa has a 50 watt peavey from like the 80's this sounds pretty close.
    Feature:
The amp, the picks, and the strap are the accessories I use the most. I replaced the strings the day after I bought it because the e string broke when I was tuning it.
    Quality:
It seems like the guitar will hold up on me for awhile ive had it for 3 months no show of aging at all.

"Excellent deal! Don't let the low price fool you!"

    Sound:
The Amp that comes with this guitar can dish out some awesome power. It also has excellent distortion that you can switch on and off. The only thing bad with it is if you stand with the guitar too close with it with the volume cranked, it whines.
    Feature:
This guitar has excellent features that more exspensive guitars have too, you're just paying less for this one.
    Quality:
Excellent guality of a guitar for such a great price. The finish on the guitar is beautiful also. This guitar is excellent for beginners!
    Manufacturer Support:
I haven't needed any services from Behringer, but the shipping took a reasonable time to arrive.
    Value:
This guitar is a great value for any beginner of any age. You are definaltely getting a good deal on this guitar for such a low price!
    The Wow Factor:
This guitar is an excellent addition to you band if you have one because it is excellent to use as a rythm guitar or lead guitar in a band.
    Overall:
Overall, this is a great guitar for anyone wanting an excellent sounding guitar for a low price. The amp is great for it's size, but you'll need a bigger one if you are in a band or are planning on performing. Also, if you are a beginner, this pack does not come with an intructional video that I think really helps!

"Looking for a good practice rig? This is it! You just can't beat it for $100!"

    Sound:
Considering the low price of this guitar it has an acceptable sound, not the best sound in a beginner type package, but certainly not bad. The amplifier in this package is OK for a practice amp, but just OK. All of the settings it has are a nice feature, but there isn't really much difference in overall sound regardless of all the options available.
    Feature:
This package includes basic accessories such as picks, strap, etc. The accessory of the lowest quality would have to be the instrument cable. It is very thin and only good for practice. Quality cables do cost a fair amount of money. I think that Behringer had to cut cost somewhere and this is one place they did.
    Quality:
The overall fit and finish is nice. The guitar has a nice shiny black finish, seems to be a quality paint job. The body of this guitar is solid, no cheap junk here, it has a little weight to it. My favorite feature has to be the neck. It is very smooth with a nice satin finish. The frets are a little sloppy, but for a $100 practice rig I can't really complain. The tuners are the worst feature. These tuners are basically junk. Overall the guitar seems pretty solid. I think that with proper care it will last for quite a while.
    Manufacturer Support:
I have never had to contact customer support. The product was delivered to me in new condition, everything working as advertised. No problems at all so far.
    Value:
In my opinion this is a very good deal. $100 for the complete package, very reasonable price for pretty good quality.
    The Wow Factor:
Hey, there's not much better than a strat body. Hold one and you'll see!
    Overall:
I give this package an overall score of 8. It could have garnered a higher score if it had been of higher quality, but for $100, I can't complain. This is a good deal.

    "This thing is so cool!"

    Sound:
I am really impressed with the quality of the sound. I was expecting it to sound like a junk guitar compared with the price. The amp is very small, but it makes great sound. My only complaints are that the crunch setting sounds about the same as the lead setting for the amp, and it jumps out of tune easily if you bump the neck into something.
    Feature:
This thing has so many accessories. The only thing it doesnt have that you might want is a tuner. it came with a strap, pick, and a cord, which is all i needed.
    Quality:
The amp is made very well. It feels as if it will never break. On the other hand the guitar is a little funky. if you bump the end into something, it sounds as if one of the strings just snapped, but they dont. All the parts and knobs are all very sturdy and dont feel like they are going to come off anytime soon.

"Guide to getting the most out of this starting out."

    Feature:
Just to mention to those who buy this guitar and have problems. Looking through the reviews, most of the issues that are mentioned can easily be corrected, and happen on most guitars. With a bit of maitence, all guitars will work well. 1) Change the strings. Rarely will a guitar come from the factory with good strings, even the higher quality guitars come with bad strings. 2) Get a tuner, and learn how to use it. It'll avoid problems. 3) Lower the action on the guitar, this will let you play it faster and easier. 4) Adjust the truss rod to correct the back bow, this will make the fret buzz less noticeable, even eliminated. (You can find guides to this on the internet) 5) The guitar's 'Problem' of coming out of tune is because the people here do not stretch the strings properly. Any guitar will come out of tune easily if the strings were not properly stretched when they were put on the guitar. Applies from this one to even a Gibson Les Paul. Using the Tremolo bar will also knock the tune out of whack on any guitar that does not use the more expensive (And complicated) Floyd Rose style bridge. 6) If you can (and are comfortable with wiring and schematics), use shielding techniques on this guitar to make the sound better. ALL guitars have poor wiring, even your top quality Fenders. The wiring is worse than you would find in a 5$ tape recorder (Applies to all guitars). They have large grounding loops that will cause the Single Coil pickups to hum (and sometimes pick up radio stations). (Guide to this is here: http://www.guitarnuts.com/wiring/menu.php)

Behringer V-Tone Guitar and Amplifier Package Customer Review

This reviewer purchased this item from Same Day Music.

    Sound:
Sound isn't wonderful compared to say a $400 guitar, but for the price it's good. When clean, it plays a good clean sound but sometimes a bit harsh. On distortion it's muddy. Overall the pickups are thin and harsh, but for the price it's good. The sound is also good if you're looking for a different sound. The amp is great. Simple but nice. It may not sound great with the guitar the pack came with, but when I plug my Les Paul in, it's pretty darn good. The amp is the one thing from this pack I use the most now I got a new guitar.
    Feature:
The pack came with a cable, strap, three picks, chord chart, and Gig bag. Picks are cheap plastic, but you can easily get much better ones at a local music store. Strap is useable but I wouldn't rely on it so much. Should have come with a tuner.
    Quality:
Quality of the guitar is pretty good. Well, the tuners are cheap and you'll probably find yourself tuning more often than you'd like. Replaced the strings after a few months, and it sounds much better. Action is a little high. Finish is great... everything is tight, no loose parts. Buzzes if you try to lower the action. I wouldn't play live with it. Probably would go out of tune while you're playing and just wouldn't feel right, and really if you want to play live, get a new guitar.
    Manufacturer Support:
    Didn't need support.
    Value:
Good price, the stuff may not be top quality but good for a beginner. Instead of buying the other $200 packs you save $100. You could do a lot with that, buy new tuners or maybe start saving up for a new guitar.
    The Wow Factor:
Um? It looks like a strat. Personally I think strats are a bit ugly, depending on the color. If they made it in more colors that would be nice. I also prefer rosewood fingerboards, for playing and looks.
    Overall:
Good stuff for the price. It's been six months, and just got a new guitar. The pack was cheap in price. After a while of playing, you'll want to get something new. For starters it's definetly a good pack. Great guitar for learning, and if you want to try out guitar, this would be a great pack.

well i bought this guitar as it was, but i fixed it up, and i will tell you what i did. First i taped up the guitar and painted it to look like EVH's VH1 strat, then I took out the 2 tone controls, pickup selectors, and 3 single coil pickups. Then I purchased a Semour Duncan 59' model humbucker and wired it to the 500k volume pot. I then cut the pickguard to fit the humbucker and painted it black. Or even get an acoustic-electric. Now those are nice.

THIS IS JUNK. IT WILL LOSE IT'S VALUE. BUY A NICE GUITAR, NOT THIS BOAT PADDLE.
    The Wow Factor:
HECK NO. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? NO WAY I WOULD SAVE MY MONEY AND GET A GIBSON LES PAUL.
    Overall:
HORRIBLE. DO NOT BUY IT DO NOT BUY IT.
