Behringer MicroMIX MX400 4-Channel Line Mixer Customer Review
This reviewer purchased this item from Same Day Music.
Sound:
This mixer sounds just fine. I use it as a line mixer to mix two fiddles, a banjo, and a guitar into an acoustic amp (AER Compact 60) or PA. I have preamps (Fishman and Behringer) before the mixer so it simply allows me to bring them all into one line for the house mix or my amp. I'm only playing one instrument at a time, but it works great and doesn't add any perceptible noise. I only ever turn an input up to 60% or so, everything hisses at 100% in my experience. I've plugged my instruments in directly and can't detect any sound alteration, it sounds like going direct into my amp.
Feature:
4 in, 1 out, powered (capable of boosting the signal a little). A dedicated "master" mix knob would be the only addition it could use, but tweaking 4 lines to get the right output is not hard.
Ease of Use:
Plug things in, turn the knobs, it mixes.
Quality:
I'm going low on this because it's made of plastic and will probably break with the first good hit. However I treat my gear with care and have other behringer mixers that have lasted for 9 years and counting.
Manufacturer Support:
n/a.
Value:
Considering that the next option up is twice the price, I'll give this a 10. It sounds as good as the next ones up as well. A compact Rolls would look sweet (love the black), but the powered 4 channel mixer is not cheap. This one is great for the budget - and if I use it enough then it'll justify an upgrade.
The Wow Factor:
Despite the cheap brand name and the gray look it's actually very sexy. Small, and the knobs feel really good when they turn.
Overall:
If you need another line mixer in your rig buy this.
