"Behringer review from someone who actually records for a living. It's not an Avalon but it has it's own charm. Best for under $1"

Feature:
The tube cut lets you control the warmth and it actually works pretty well. 3/4 tube sounds the best on most uses.
Quality:
I used to have to hit it once in awhile to make the "tube" light up. Then I figured it was just one of the silly lights they put in for cosmetics. It does pick up RF once in awhile. It would be a good idea to clean it with an air gun. Not real tight.
Value:
Nothing for the price compares.
Desirability:
It looks great in tandem with the other four pieces in my rack; until a musician walks into my studio. Then I have to show him some recordings and convince him that I did it with this cheap stuff.
Sound:
I had a UA go south on me and I needed a tube amp. I don't like it as much as my Class A Eureka for guitar. I use an AKG 414 and it seems to be a bit too tinny in the high end. For vocals it sounds great with my Neuman TLM 103. I do commercial work and I often need the tube sound that even my Eureka's saturation switch won't provide. I wouldn't recommend buying it without also purchasing the matching Tube Exciter Enhacer. Together they sound like a very good tube preamp. By themselves, nothing special. I think the tube compressor limiter that they make is the best you can get for under $1,000 dollars. I have that in my rack as well as the tube eq which is also great. I have the four units run together, and I truly get a very good sound. The compressor is tons better than the Focusrite TT that I returned, and overall everything is alot less noisey. If you use the TRS jacks, you can build one big, interactive tube pre that can make a professional recording. I have sold jingles with this rack, and I have learned to use it well. I can't afford the Avalon yet, but I should make enough off of the Behringer gear to afford one this fall. I haven't used anything under $1,000 dollars that sounded better. I would save $1,000 dollars and put it toward a good mic.
Support:
No need to call.
Overall:
I want an Avalon. I will still keep this stuff, especialy they Tube Compressor Limiter and the Tube EQ. It is quality enough to use for vocals in any studio if you have all four units.
