Behringer XR4400 Multigate Pro Customer Review
This reviewer purchased this item from Same Day Music.
Sound:
I use the Multigate in my PA rig primarily for drums. If the drummer knows his stuff and has his heads tuned pretty well, the gate functions beautifully. However, as is often the case especially on toms, if the heads have a funky ring, the gate will sometimes turn off and then on again picking up the tail end of the out of phase head ring. This is not a dig against Behringer or the product, I think other gates would fare the same in that situation.
Feature:
I give it a 9 for features because like a lot of behringer products, they have pack a lot of cool functionality into this little box.
Ease of Use:
The other side of the features coin is the ease of use. If you are inexperienced, this unit will take some time to learn. Since there are a lot of functions, there is a lot to figure out and a lot of tweaking that needs to be done to get it just right. As always the manual is a bit lacking in details, but if you ask any sound professional, they can steer you in the right direction.
Quality:
I have never had a Behringer product die on me during a show. I have had more issues consistently with "higher quality" i.e. more expensive gear than I have ever had with any of my behringer stuff.
Manufacturer Support:
I only go with a five because I have never had to call them. Everything I own from them (and I own a lot of their gear) has worked and been rock solid from day 1.
Value:
Best bang for your buck period.
The Wow Factor:
I love the look of the Behringer rack gear. In fact they match all my kitchen appliances as I have stainless steel and black there too.
Overall:
I will own it until it dies, which will probably be a long time.
