"Good idea, but they missed a key factor - this pedal is NOISY."
This reviewer purchased this item from Same Day Music.
Sound:
This is a noisy pedal. The basic effect it creates is great and its a good simulation of an electric-acoustic guitar. But it is so noisy, I had to remove it from my pedal chain. I'll try it with a noise gate, but shouldn't need to -- so it gets a 5.
Feature:
It sounds good, came with a free power supply and was priced in the general range of other Boss pedals. But again, its noisy.
Ease of Use:
well lets see, there's an input, an output, a power input, and the stomp pedal. And 4 knobs. Pretty easy to use. But it is unplayable for live and I won't even tolerate it at home in my pedal chain because it effects the sound when on or off.
Quality:
The basic structural quality is sound. Fit and finish and all those things are fine. But if its so noisy you can't really use it without a noise gate (and maybe with one - we'll see) then they missed a basic quality element - the noise floor is just too high in this design.
Manufacturer Support:
I wrote Boss for a "current draw" spec and they emailed me back promptly with the answer. But since all their other pedals include this spec and this pedal didn't on their site - it gets a 9. On the other hand, they got me the info quickly when I contacted them - which is good.
Value:
If I had it to do over again, I would have bought this used for half or a third the price because its looking like its going to be a novelty item and not part of my basic pedal chain.
The Wow Factor:
Its kind of unique in the market - I haven't seen other acoustic simulators. So I think that is nice. On the other hand it is so noisy, I really don't want it anymore unless I get a noise gate and it works well with it. If that happens, I'll use it.
Overall:
It depends how it intereacts with a noise gate.
