"Take it from me...I have played everything and this is an excellent choice@ GT8 will offer you sounds and tones just like the re"

Feature:
As an owner of RP10, i have a good clear picture on how these things work. this GT8 unit was fairly simple to learn, the part that takes more time is the sound setting to what you are expecting or searching for. once you learned the GT8 nuances, it should serve you well. Wah effects are a bit off, this is most likely due to being internally connected opposed to having cord connections and pots that get the frequencies to work. somethings needs dirt to sound ballsy in guitar tones. IE: VH's tone on vinyl vs. CD.

Quality:
Boss pedals has always been dependable for live & recording use. this is no exception. My pedal came in a box but my exp pedal did not work. Do not try this @ home if you don't know about how pedals work mechanically...I worked in guitars store for years. By removing the bottom panel of the unit, I was able to see that the exp pedal was not connected to the board. Once I made the connection, everything was fine. I took a look internally while I had the unit open, the solder is solid and the case welding were top notch as well. a very clean and precise unit. Great job on the designing of this unit.

Value:
For the money, you will have everything you ever dream of in guitar sounds availble to you. take your time to know this unit, it will pay off big times. However, it does not replace a Marshall stack if that's what you are looking for. It gets close! And I can pretty much bet that you can do a listening comparison with a recording of a Marshall stack and a GT8, you'll be surprised on how many people will not make the rght distinction.

Desirability:
If you play live, it's perfect not having to lug tons of stuff around and try to troubleshoot if you have a break in your effect chain. Recording use for this unit is optimal, you have flexibility and quality in this unit. Looks great in black!!!

Sound:
GT8 offers a wide range of sound with cab sims and mike placement. For dinosaur guitar players, there will never be the exact comparison to an amplifier and stomp boxes. If you are into recording, this GT8 unit will offer you emough option to dial up any sound imaginable. leave the rest to post, mixdowns & mastering. You have to be patient to find your sounds, the range is great so it requires more fine tuning.

Support:
Best support is never having to use it. I know people in Roland, they're good people.

Overall:
If you had to pick one, this is a great choice. I have played with everything available and to get a unit that covers majority of your needs is a plus. keep in mind, your taste is very subjective pending on your style, playing level, experience and comfort. this unit is a safe bet if you open your mind to it. I bought mine purely from reviews and I know it's the best sounding for me after 3 hours of playing...I have played on 99% of pedals in the market, the GT8 hits all the spot with a very a good price.

"The Best multi-effects unit you can get."

Feature:
Everything you could want and more. You probably won't get to use everything because there is so much stuff, but you'll use most of it to get the sound you want, and for messing around for fun as well.

Quality:
I've dropped my boss tuner pedal on this thing and I couldn't find a single scratch on it. Extremely well built.

Value:
It doesn't cost that much more than the gt-6 when you look at all the new stuff you're getting so why not go for it?Sound's much better if you ask me.

Desirability:
The black looks much better than the color of the gt-6. The screen is extremely clear and you can adjust the contrast, too. The quality is unbelievable. When you pull this thing out at your friend's house everyone's jaws will drop and at the end of the day they'll all be saying," I gotta get one of those. That thing is awesome!"

Sound:
The sound quality is absolutely brilliant. Once you've used it for around half an hour or so ,just tinkering with it, you should be able to figure out how to get the sound you want and what everything does. And after you've had it for a few days, you'll be able to dial up what you want in a few minutes. Excellent for getting a signature sound from your favorite guitarist or song if you want as well

Support:
Never needed it from BOSS.

Overall:
This is a permanent addition to my setup. I may use some of my other pedals on the side (like the tuner and crybaby among a few others) so if I want to mess around without having to adjust anything I can just use those right away. If I had to, I would replace this in a heartbeat if anything happened to it. I would only get other pedals to add to this because this is the main staple of my sound( as far as the floor equipment goes).

"BLOWS THE POD XT LIVE AWAY...RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX."

Feature:
Solid unit. Great display. Easy to use. Very customizable. Doesn't take much tweaking here. Throw your POD away and get a real guitar processor, the GT8.

Quality:
Solid. Black. Stage worthy. Gig ready. Studio ready. All you need.

Value:
AMAZING VALUE FOR WHAT YOU GET IN THE GT8. I've owned a lot of processors, and Boss did their homework on this one.

Desirability:
Unbelievable. THis thing will make the average guitar player sound huge.

Sound:
If you're thinking about getting a POD XT Live over the Boss Gt8: DON'T. I JUST RETURNED A POD XT LIVE...couldn't get it to sound good at all. Thin, tinny, unrealistic...waste of money. YOU WILL SPEND HOURS AND HOURS OF TWEAKING TO NOT BE SATISFIED! BUT!! THE BOSS GT8 RIGHT OUTTA THE BOX BLOWS THE POD XT LIVE AWAY. THIS is how a guitar processor should sound. PERIOD. I'd buy a second one in a heartbeat. Even blows the GT6 away. The amp models are incredible. GREAT distortions compared to the GT6 or POD. Incredible.

Support:
Boss is awesome. Known for quality. CAn't go wrong here.

Overall:
Buy it. play it. don't worry...be happy. The boss GT8 is the way to go. Don't even think about a POD anymore...Line 6 has WAY too much catching up to do....and to think I was a Line6 player for YEARS!!!!

"Fantastic GT8, Don't leave home without it!"

Feature:
The unit came with an adaptor only. Other accessories like the midi cable has to be bought separately should be included. I like the A/B channel switching which is superb and very useful feature as I can choose from two types of amps and overall effects. I like the manual mode where I can select all the effects individually.

Quality:
This is a well made unit. Don't drop it on your foot as you might just break your foot. The unit would be fine from the fall but not your foot. The color is nice and the LCD although small is good enough to be seen in the day or night. I like the knobs for instant adjustments although some people might not like it.

Value:
Worth every dollar spent.

Desirability:
The arrangement of all the controls and buttons are just right and I like the color too. It's a bit too heavy but I think its fine if you put it in a sling bag.

Sound:
The sound is good and very flexible, easy to edit and get the exact type of sound you want. Many types of distortions and overdrives to choose from. Most of the sounds sound good especially the tube screamer and Turbo overdrive. The speaker simulators sound quite real and can be used plugged directly to the mixer. There should be external trigger switches for the tuner/bypass, manual control, solo switch.

Support:
Sent something for repair three months ago but they are still unable to repair. I hope this one does not get spoilt otherwise I would need to buy a new one. Mine is made in Taiwan. I wonder how is it compared to the ones made in Japan.

Overall:
I have no complaint on the unit at all, only thing is that it would be nice if I knew what the patches are made up of with the exact settings. I am made to understand that all controls are at 50%. I don't know if it is correct but thats what I think. If another unit were to come out I might consider buying it. As with other Roland products, I still have most of my stompboxes of 25 years. they are all till in good working condition. Never really had to repair them, only the drum machine that I sent for repair and never came back. (I am still waiting for them to call me to tell me its been repaired)So far I think this unit meets all my needs and I would replace it with the same or another updated version if it were stolen.
