"worth its salt but not its price"
Feature:I am always taking my gear back and forth to different places, and even though I take care of my gear, my old plastic box tuner just couldn't hack it against the abuse it was taking. I bought this because I have other Boss pedals, and they are pretty rugged. It has everything you'd expect a good tuner to have - stream or chromatic tuning, selectable reference pitch (A440 - A449), and even modes to tune a semitone or tone down. I am pleased with its accuracy, but the best part is that you can check your tuning silently between songs on stage without unplugging anything, while the singer bullsh*ts the crowd a little (that's what he's there for, right?!). However, I would have liked to see an LED light or some other indication that stays on when the tuning mode is engaged.
Quality:
I feel like if this gets knocked around too much an LED is going to come loose or break. Just the fact that there's so many indicators on it gives me a little worry. But the housing is incredibly sturdy and I keep this pedal inside a sturdy case so hopefully nothing will happen to it.
Value:
I would really like to see the sale price go down about 20 bucks or so. I think it's too pricey for its range. If it came down in price, it would definitely blow away all the other competitors.
Ease of Use:
Tap on, tap off. It really is that simple. The only confusing part is the "output" and "bypass" jacks. When i don't have the manual in front of me, I can't remember which one is silent during tuning and which one isn't. "Bypass" could have been better labeled as "silent" - but that's just nit-picking.
Overall:
Overall this is an essential piece of gear that I'm already growing attached to. I would like to see the price come down about $20 but if it stands up over time like I think it will then I don't mind paying a little extra.

"Don't waste your money on handheld tuners, go professional."
Feature:The most useful feature is the ability to switch between stream and cent tuning. I've never used the bypass feature though I'm sure it comes in handy for some users. Also the ability to run a 9 volt line from the back of the unit to other pedals saves the need for extra adaptors and no more batteries are required.
Quality:
This is a Boss stomp box whose high quality reputation preceeds itself. I feel it will last a long time on the road. Very reliable.
Value:
It's a fair price
Desirability:
Definitely a practical addition though the LED's are kind of trippy in stream mode. White being neutral is a good choice of colour as the pedal has a null effect on the sound and the pedal is more visible during dark lighting while playing live. Black would be a poor choice, like the colour of my Hyper Metal Distortion that sits right beside it.
Sound:
I like the fact that it doesn't make any sound at all. No blips or pops.
Support:
No problems yet.
Overall:
I'll keep it forever and never go back to handheld tuners. I'd be lost without it. Being able to tune up in the middle of a song without the whole world hearing you is invaluable. It matches my other Boss pedals. It's accurate but not too accurate. Some tuners are so fine you can never be perfectly in tune according to their indicators, you end up wasting valuable time getting the "needle" dead centre when all along you're more than close enough. With the Boss tuner, once the green lights stop flickering and the red light stays solid you are good to go on to the next string. The thing I like least about it aside from the small sharp indicator light is having to stomp on the pedal once or twice when you first power it up in order to figure out whether you are in tuning mode or play mode. Not a major deal.
