Breedlove AC25SR Plus Atlas Series Acoustic-Electric Guitar Customer Review
Sound:
I was looking for a small to medium sized guitar that allready had electronics in it. My hope was to find someting to replace my Taylor 110 without spending the money for a Taylor grand concert CE. After reading all the positive reviews I took a risk buying the AC25SR. Unfortunately when I got the Breedlove home and compared the two side by side I was very dissapointed. The Breedlove has nice low to mid's, but the highs on this guitar are dull and lifeless. Even my wife who is not knowlegable about guitars, asked why it sounded so dead compared to my Taylors! I'm not comparing this to my Taylor 510CE, or my Taylor 355, but to a bottom end Taylor that sells for more that $200 less than the Breedlove. I would be better serves just using my Fishman Rare Earth pickup in my 110 than keeping this guitar. So my request to the other reviewers that think this compares to a Taylor, is to reserve your statement until you compare them side by side. There is no comparison. I may try some different strings before I give up on the Breedlove, but I doubt I'll be keeping this guitar.
Feature:
I have to ask...why isn't there a hard shell case available!
Quality:
All right I'll give the overall quality some decent remarks. For a import guitar this is well finished. I would gladly show it off for the appearance. Then I would pick up another guitar to play.
Overall:
If you are looking for a sexy, small to mid size guitar in the middle price range, this isn't bad. If you want top quality sound there are better choices. Don't expect the sound of a $1200+ guitar out of this $800 package. Martin has some nice guitars using composit bodies that compares well. I also had a Wasburn EA18 that was similar. My recommendation is if you have a local retailer where you can put your hands on one first, do it. If it sings to you, go for it. It's all subjective anyway.
