"The real deal!"
This reviewer purchased this item from Same Day Music.
Sound:
I wanted an amp that I could play and get a decent tone from, without the need for effects pedals to help generate the sound I'm looking for. This amp does this and more. I sold an Eden Nemesis RS-400 amp because, although it had great power and a decent tone, all I could get was a slight variation of the same tone. Not with this amp. Once you plug into it, and spend maybe a half an hour or so fiddling with the knobs, buttons, EQ settngs, and the tone/pup knobs on your bass, you'll find all kinds of tone candy. The bright, ultra high and ultra low buttons dramatically change the tone generated from this amp--from tube warmth, to punching slap.
Feature:
This amp comes with a EQ on/off + mute. This is handy when you want to activate those custom EQ settings on the fly. Although compression is not bad, it's not as good as the EBS multi-comp I play through.
Ease of Use:
Settup is fairly straight foward. Fool around with the knobs for about an hour and you will love it.
Quality:
The only reason I'm giving this a 6 is because I was sent the last one in stock, and it had a short in the signal chain. Maybe being the last one it got knock around or dropped I don't know. So beware of postings like "only two left in stock". Wait until the get more in.
Manufacturer Support:
After receiving the prepaid UPS return label the turn-around after a sent it back was less than 3 days. I returned it monday morning and received a new one Wed afternoon. SDM rules when it comes to customer service
Value:
If you look a the Ampeg SVT Pro 3. This is the same amp but with at least 2 extra 12AX7 tubes, + an extra 100 watts. There are die hard purest who hate knock-offs, but this is the real deal.
Overall:
The only thing I'm buy to compliment this amps is perhaps 2 or 3 effects. That's it. If you've got a decent cab, you will love this amp.
