"Garth Brooks can have his Crown headset mike."
Feature:I bought the Crown with a Shure UHF wireless pack; the original VHF pack was a loser. The windscreens on the Crown are losers too. The windscreens are not durable.
Quality:
The first Crown got wet in a rainstorm and literally melted and the company didn't want to stand behind the product. I replaced it and I seem to have gotten less service out of the second one. The windscreen is too fragile and I had to glue it back into it's holder twice. The second time the frequencies went nuts.
Value:
When I started using this product it was promoted as Garth Brook's headset. They sucked me right in.
Desirability:
It doesn't look that good.
Sound:
I have owned two and the mike sounds OK, but my Samson wired mikes sound warmer.
Ease of Use:
My sound engineers told me that they were never crazy about the sound that they got from the Crown. It sounded OK with a small system.
Support:
Support from Crown? Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha! They support themselves by charging retail for a replacement.
Overall:
I paid $1200.00 for the first Crown and the Shure UHF wireless system in 1999. I replaced the mike for an unknown price three years ago and it has left me hanging lately with faulty windscreen and wild frequency responses (I just can't get it to sound good). I'm going to try another brand and match it with my Shure UHF wireless package.

"Awesome mic"
Sound:This mic surprises veteran sound men."Wow, that's a hot mic", is a typical response. Takes some time bending to get to fit. If you use care when using and placing in carring case, this fragile dynomo will last. Getting the wind shield close or touching a lip or two, insures proper output signal to the mixer. Sound is every bit as good as any mic out there, especially a headset. Great for a drummer.

"2,000 shows and still kicking!"
Feature:It is fairly comfortable to wear, but bulky. It also does not pack well. If you have a smile that likes to be seen, be aware that the windscreen and mic are large enough to be an obstruction to your audience. They do not go unnoticed.
Quality:
The windscreen finally tore loose, but I have tossed this in with the receiver and several wires and connectors for 2,000 shows or so. It is highly dependable. Knock on wood!
Value:
If mine ever does wear out I would replace it. I have owned and heard many other wireless headsets and I believe that the clarity on this beats all but the $1,000 and up.
Desirability:
It is a work horse, not a thoroughbred. It is a view obstructor if you have pretty teeth.
Sound:
The sound is very clear and NATURAL! It does, however, tend to push the bass in a person's voice. This is fine if you run your own Equalizer, but if you depend on hooking into someone else's system you need to let them know. I have used this over 2,000 times in live shows and people love the clarity.
