"High price, but great sound."
Feature:
Good overall features, except for the battery compartment door (super cheap) and the fact that they put the USB and SD card slot underneath that door. Should've put them on the side. Also, the screen sucks -- but not enough to damage my overall view. On the plus side, it is very intuitive to use. You barely need the manual, which is great (watch the tutorial videos on their website and you will be up and running in no time.)
Quality:
Cheap feeling -- like a $25 plastic toy.
Value:
Probably overpriced for the build quality -- but thankfully the sound quality is superior.
Desirability:
Light, discreet and great sound.
Sound:
Sound quality is excellent for musical instrument recording. You get a strange tape hiss sound if you're just trying to record voices (like a meeting) at low level. But if you want this (like I did) to record singing, or instruments, or bands, it is amazing quality sound. Totally satisfied.
Ease of Use:
Super easy. Hit record once to arm the recorder and hit it again to start recording. Doesn't get much simpler.
Overall:
So far I think I will be happy with the R09. Have to see how it holds up in the field...
