"This is the sexiest octave box you will ever get."
Feature:The Micro-POG includes the AC adapter because it CANNOT use batteries. I think that it would have been better if it could use both, but that is not an option here.
Quality:
The Micro-POG is steel and ready for the road. The pedal is heavy and solid enough to take life on tour. As an added bonus, this pedal also makes NO pedal hum, which I attribute to the quality of the internal parts and shielding.
Value:
It is a little pricey, but it works so much better than other pedals that attempt to be an octave box that it is hard to complain about it. The others cost less, but then, they sound like crap.
Desirability:
This thing is SEXY, if you like octave boxes. Liking octave boxes is like going against the grain and saying, "I like redheads instead of blonds." She does the highs and lows better than anyone else, and if you really give it to her full-tilt, she will wail like a full pipe organ.
Sound:
This is the best octave pedal that I've ever used. I have owned and used the Boss OC-2 and OC-3 pedals, and this one much better. Neither of the two Boss pedals tracked well enough to play chords. They produced a warbling sound while the pedals were trying to find the root of the tone; however, the Micro-POG finds the pitches so fast that it avoids the warbling tone all together. It works well for making the bass double the lead or rhythm parts, but most of all, I use it for making my six string sound like a 12 string without switching guitars. If you turn everything up, you can make it sound like a COOL pipe organ--very nice for some of the classic rock tunes.
Ease of Use:
Three knobs and no waiting, this is super easy to use, and I couldn't find any setting that sounded bad. Knob 1 is dry (no effect, just the instrument), 2 is one octave above the dry signal, and 3 is one octave below the dry signal. The instruction sheet tells how to get 12 string guitar and 8 string base. Everything else is open to tweaking, but it is very easy to find good tones here.
Support:
I haven't had to deal with EHX, so I cannot comment on their customer service.
Overall:
I owned several other octave boxes before this one, and it was the most versatile AND best sounding of them all. If I had know about this one earlier, I would have bought it first and saved a lot of time and money. If this were stolen, I would drop the thief with a tire tool and take my pedal back. The Micro-POG is easy to use and sounds great!
