"If you care about sound quality, buy these speakers."
This reviewer purchased this item from Same Day Music.
Sound:
I'm powering a pair of these with a Behringer Europower PMP3000 - and they sound *amazing*. I get no distortion at all from these and no distortion in the mids/highs due to bass. I could not have asked for a better speaker in the price range.
Feature:
They aren't carpeted, but instead have a rough industrial shell to them which should allow them to hold up pretty well. It also seems like there is a true separation between the 2x 15's... meaning you don't have the low 15 jacking up the sound from the mid 15 or the horn. Beautiful.
Ease of Use:
These require speakon cables or adapters to 1/4 inch if you're already setup with 1/4 cables. Also, in case you missed it, they are *not* powered so you'll need an amp or powered mixer.
Quality:
These things are built to withstand some constant use, and it's obvious. They're rigid and rugged, exactly what I expect from gigging gear.
Manufacturer Support:
I didn't pick these up on sameday, but the local shop I bought them at confirmed a 5 year warranty through EV. That is top of the line.
Value:
For the price, it might seem a little steep... until you hear them next to a other competing speakers. I was looking at these vs $300 Peaveys, $500 JBLs, $200 Behringers... and the sound quality difference was *huge*. Well worth the money for longevity and ridiculously awesome sound IMHO.
The Wow Factor:
They look truly awesome in person. Industrial/rugged.
Overall:
These speakers have blown me away. This is my first major EV purchase for gear and I believe I will be sticking with the EV brand for quite some time. The only downfall of this speaker would have to be it's weight and size... but you're going to have that with any 2x15 setup you find if it's constructed well.
