"Epiphone EB-3 Bass Good deal for the money"

Sound:

I am just learning to play bass. It is not my primary instrument, however after a little tweaking I am very pleased with the sound. With two pickups and the selector switch it seems to have a lot of versatility. Haven't played it in a live venue yet.

Feature:

The bass came with a cheap cord, no case or gig bag. For the price I paid however I'm not that disappointed about no case. Ability to switch between pick ups is nice. If you've owned epiphones before you know that the component quality is not top of the line, however again for the price I feel it is worth the money I paid for it. Ifyou wanted to put more money into it you might be able to enhance the sound somewhat, but if you wanted to spend more money why not buy a more expensive bass to begin with?

Ease of Use:

Very playable out of the box, however I did put new strings on it after reading some other peoples reviews. I then had to adjust the action some. Not a big deal.

Quality:

Guitar body and finish were excellent. Have not noticed any blemishes, scratches, etc. I've only owned it a short period of time so I can't speak about the reliability. It seems to be put together well. I'm not thrilled with the nut and fretboard, but again for the price some consolations have to be made. I believe it will hold up on the road, just get a good case for it.

Value:

I've owned a Fender 50's reissue USA made bass. To compare I would say that the Epi is an excellent valus.

The Wow Factor:

It fit my needs very well, but is also a cool looking guitar.

Overall:

I'm not primarily a bass player so I expect this guitar to last me for a long time. Would I replace it if stolen, perhaps. Only time and the current situation at that time would dictate that. I can only say it's a cool piece and so far I'm very happy with it.

Sound:

I have owned this bass for a year now, and have a few problems with this product. When I originally bought it, it had some wiring problems. Nothing too major, but very annoying to have to repair a piece of equipment right out of the box. This bass has some very distinct sounds. Either very deep, or very tinny/high end.

Feature:

I love that this bass has a humbucker, and sidewinder pick up, and that you can mix and select which pick up, and how much of each is heard in the main mix.

Ease of Use:

The SG body is very cool looking, and its quiet distinctive. Not easly mistaken. But with this design you have to constantly compete with supporting the neck because it is very neck heavy. Once you get used to it though, its not a big deal.

Quality:

Epiphone is a good company for the money. The paint job, and overall look of the bass was incredible. But as far as the internal wiring goes, it really hurt my desire to purchase from them again...

Value:

For the money, it is a good buy for the bassist who is looking for something to add a different sound to their line up.

The Wow Factor:

This is an incredibly sexy bass, but it has some minor things that you will need to get used to. Nothing too bad though.

Overall:

I would love to keep the set neck and the humbuckers, as well as the selector switch, but the sound is just, "Not my cup of tea".
