Not sure of the reason, but the trings tend to lose tuning very quickly. Otherwise they are great strings. I have used this particular string (Ball) for nearly 40 years. slinky type for as long as I've known about them.This drawback is not such that I'd change brands.

Quality:Great strings, play rough on them. I haven't broken one in 8 years.
