"very pleased..."
This reviewer purchased this item from Same Day Music.
comes with footswitch and cover. extra gain boost is a nice feature. only thing i can complain about is i wish the reverb could be turned off and on with a footswitch somehow. Other than that no complaints.
Quality:
Fender is the best. Leo was a genius and got this sort of technology pegged right off the bat.
Value:
I think for the price this is an excellent amp. The entire hot rod series is great, but if you're not playing giant venues this thing is plenty loud.
Desirability:
The silver grill and black tolex are quite striking. It's a very nice looking clean amplifier. There are some variations such as creme tolex, laquered tweed, and a triburst wood cabinet that all look very nice. All in all its about the way it sounds, but it doesn't hurt that it has some eyecandy to it too.
Sound:
quite a nice clean sound on the amp. Typical fender sparkling sound. I play with a American Deluxe Strat, a Vox Wah, TS-9 tubescreamer, Boss Chorus, and a mottling of other effects. The amp is very responsive to changes in volume and you can really control the amount of air is getting passed through the speaker. Thing is plenty loud, i usually keep it around 2, and have to wear earplugs from the slapback in the practice room. The built in distortion is a creamy to slightly shrill tube distortion. Not for heavy metal but brilliant for blues, jazz, and rock. A really transparent overdrive like a zvex hard-on, or a tubescreamer is really well complemented with this amplifier. It has a nice full body that can be exagerated with some pedals. The key is to letting the guitars tone and the amp do the real work and then just push the tubes into doing a little bit more.
Support:
I've never had to deal with them, so i can't knock it.
Overall:
I will have this amp for quite some time. Until i can afford or have a need for a half stack and use an A/B box to switch between the two amps for seperate clean and dirty sounds, there will be absolutely no need for me to get anything else. remember to use your amp cover!

"The only tube amp you should consider."
Value:You cant do better, crapy digital amps cost more and they suck. After all why do you think they emulate tube sound?
Desirability:
Sound:
I have been playing 26 yrs. and i have owned many tube amps. It lacks the sweetness of my old Black face Fender.I think it may be the groove tubes but they are more reliable than RCA black plates. If you dont like it sell it to somone with taste. While not being as good as a true vintage it is still superior to all line 6 or cyber twins, those are geek amps for tasteless people. If you play lead at 100 mph. you may not like it, but for soulful soloing this is it. It rattles a little at full volume but most tubes do.
Support:
you wont need to deal with Fender they invented tube amps that is why Marshall and Mesa Boogie studied under Leo Fender,he was a genius.
Overall:
Fender tube amps dont wear out they just need new tubes. O K they go about 15 to 20 yrs.

"Fender-HR Deluxe hasn't failed me yet!!!"
Feature:I like the red jewel power light. it has reverb, presence, Bass, treble, and mid. control. Not to mention 3 channels. One super clean and the other two with high, muddy gain. Comes with a 3 way switch petal and a cover. (use that cover!!)
Quality:
Other than the fact that it is indeed a tube amp in which tubes do, unfortunately, wear out, it should last a long time. I'd be careful with the speaker cover fabric stuff if I were you. It feels really fragile and thin.
Value:
Man it is awesome value. $500? yeah!!!
Desirability:
It's got that sexy retro look. Even sexier than my girlfriend, and that's saying a hellava lot. (maybe too much. lol)
Sound:
The CLEAN sound is unbelievably awesome. It packs a lot. It's nice and clean and really loud. The overdrive is too muddy for me, though, and sounds like crap,& Palm muting sounds horrible. To fix this, I use a Boss Metal Zone mt-2 on the clean channel to brighten the lows and highs and it sounds wonders now all around.
Overall:
I will love this amp forever. even if in 50 yrs. they come out with a better amp, I'll be sentimentally attached to it.

"Save your back and your money."
Feature:Reverb is nice, as described before. I like havong the controls on the top, gives it a nice vintage feel. another good feature, the standby switch- go try this amp out and youll understand. With two inputs, its got it all. its also pretty light for a 40 watt tube.
Quality:
Built like a Brick. very sturdy, the 1x12" driver provides all the juice you need.
Value:
Great value for such an amazing amp. You cant beat it! Although i will be paying a little less for it (through a local music shop), its still definetly worth it.
Desirability:
i will be getting this amp in the very near future...why not!?
Sound:
This amp has got to have one of the best clean tones on the market. The Groove Tubes arent bad, and they give you ample distortion. besides, you really dont need the "More Drive" channel anyway, the 1st drive works well. Great resopnse and the genuine reverb makes the concert hall sounds to spacey or bluesy tones. Overall, the sound on this amp is AWESOME.
Support:
not gonna need it :)
Overall:
With this amp being approximately 40 lbs., you can at least transport it around with ease instead of a 53 pound Deville. This amp is basically the same as the Deville, with all the same features, but a ton less in weight and money...also, you can at least practice comfortably with it whereas the devillecan be just a little too loud. Overall, GREAT tone, GREAT value, GREAT AMP.

"AMPITY AMPITY AMPITY AMPITY"
Feature:Well, if you've seen This Is Spinal Tap, all the dials on Mr. Tufnel's amp go up to 11. Hey, Nigel, THESE GO TO 12!, which gives you more than that extra push over the cliff. Footswitch is great for stage, tubes get hot...i made the mistake of touching one last night...f**kin burns! remember NOT TO TOUCH THE TUBES! SERIOUSLY! Lots of fun to use, i 'specially like the pretty lights!
Quality:
Been dropped, didn't break. Nice and clear signal all the way up. Fender. I didn't pay 820 bucks canadian for nothing, lemme tell you that!
Value:
It's damn expensive!
Desirability:
It's damn hot. If you've got a stiffie for the classic sounds of the 60s and 70s, then your collection wouldn't be complete without it. It's got really cool dials too...AND COME ON! IT GOES TO 12, ALL ACROSS THE BOARD! "It is nice, I like" - Borat
Sound:
The tone can't be beat. Ever try running it through a Boss CE-5 Chorus Ensemble? Twinkly! However, the distortion channel doesn't provide enough kick for metal, but you can't expect that from a Tube amp anyways. Nice clean tone, lots of range, sounds best with fender telecasters.
Support:
IT'S FENDER! of course they're helpful, however, i haven't had any trouble with it so far.
Overall:
rocks. rocks so damn hard. Sounds best with a chorus. It is nice and loud with defined tone, and a unique sound. This amp is lovely, and if it broke, if i didn't kill myself for hurting such an object of greatness, i'd buy a new one...but BIGGER!
