"Impressive stage monitor... not a PA speaker."
Feature:
I couldn't ask for more out of a stage monitor. This is a very loud unit so it'll do it's job even in very noisy situations. The input choices are very impressive. You can use balanced or unbalanced XLR, TRS, 1/4 Phone plug line level. Or it has an unbalanced line input that the volume / tone controls don't affect. That, apparently, is intended for chaining these units. I only have one so I can't comment on this.
Quality:
I can't comment too much in this aspect. It appears to be a very durable ABS plastic (or something like that.) The controls have a "feel" to them similar to the portable Fender amps. No detectable distortion in the controls. Mine is only a week old. So far, so good.
Value:
I got a Beringer Powered stage monitor last year that cost about $50 more. It has all the qualities of the 1270 as far as inputs/outputs. But it has much higher sound quality. I use it for a PA, not a stage monitor. It seems to me that the 1270 should be lower in price for what it is. The convenience and portabillity makes it worth while.
Desirability:
A good piece of amp.
Sound:
For a stage monitor, this is a great unit. It's NOT a studio monitor. Don't expect to use this as a small PA and get top notch sounds. I would use it for a small assembly PA for non-music situations like auctions or lectures.
Support:
Never needed any support on my fender products:
'71 twin reverb
'03 Stratosonic (yes, these do exist)
Cyber-twin amp head
4X12 cab
(I'm a satisfied Fender customer)
Overall:
The only improvement I would want is the sound quality. Like I said, It's fine for a stage monitor. I also use it as a portable cab' for my amp head when practicing licks.
