"beautiful guitar with a sweet sound"

This reviewer purchased this item from Same Day Music.

    Overall:
this is a very beautiful guitar mine is dark wood top with a beautiful grain the sound is outstanding if you want a Les Paul this is the one to get. a painted guitar can have hundreds that look the same, with the wood grain guitar each one is different so no other guitar looks like yours.

Gibson Les Paul SmartWood Studio (Muir Body) Customer Review

This reviewer purchased this item from Same Day Music.

    Feature:
Gibson USA baby... doesn't get any better...I don't care what the other say. I've never played a bad one. The fact that this guitar is thinner than a standard makes the upper frets much easier to fly on...

    Quality:
    Come on...

    Value:
I put this guitar up against any...and they can be had for the cheap (600-800 us dollars)...given the quality of this guitar.

    Desirability:
I personally think these things are ugly...but it's about tone. and it doesn't get any better

    Sound:
This guitar delivers. The weird thing is that this particular Les Paul seems to pull of the clean stuff better than my Standard. Dare I say with the amp set up right you can come close to the strat tone, but make no mistake this is a Les Paul and does the dirty like you expect...with maybe a hint more clarity.

    Support:
Onyl an assumption...never had to call them.

    Overall:
I'd like to burried with this thing, course that would deprive some lucky ass relative of great guitar.

"A worthy additional to your arsenal."

    Feature:
It's a relatively basic Les Paul, the main selling point being the cap on the mahongany body. Mine is a darker Peroba with beautiful raised grain & gold hardware, which aren't the best plate jobs in the Gibson arsenal. I don't care much for the tuners, either. A near snot green.

    Quality:
Mine sat in the warehouse for a couple of years before I bought it. The setup was naturally very poor (miscut nut, pup misalignment, bridge misalignment) and I spent hours getting it to where I wanted it. I have to think that most of the poor setup originated with Gibson as this guitar was not in use by the public. Nonetheless, now that it's set up it has great low action, stays in tune even with repetitive string bends & sounds perfect to my ears.

    Value:
Do I think this guitar is worth a Thousand dollars? I suppose it's relative. I paid $700 for mine and I consider it worth that much. I don't believe I would spend a Thousand, no matter how much I love this instrument. So, if you can find it for that price, grab it!

    Desirability:
I'm a woodworker, so I appreciate fine woods. This is a very beautiful guitar to my eye. The females around me love the look of it, as well, so I guess it has 'sex appeal'. My first and last criterion is always the tone, but eye appeal is also relevant.

    Sound:
Not as crisp as my Strat, but wonderfully full and bright. Superb sustain. This guitar is at its best slightly distorted. Rock and Blues are ideal for this LP.

    Support:
I've only contacted Gibson once (not for this guitar) and they were outstanding.

    Overall:
I originally bought this as a 'cheap' LP to put some Seymour Duncan Phat Cats into, but have since changed my mind. This one is a keeper just the way it is and I'll find something else for the Phat Cats.

    "EXCELLENT GUITAR."

    Feature:
Beautiful case. Hardwood finish is outstanding. Best feature is how light it is for a Les Paul Studio and the overall sound.

    Quality:
Top quality. Well made with exception on tuners are plastic, but overall a well made product.

    Value:
Can't compare with other guitar since it is the only one I own, but I think it is a very high quality product and am very satified with it.

    Desirability:
It does look good as a appealing instrument but that is not why I bought it. Just wanted a quality instrument to learn on.

    Sound:
Nice High and low tone sound combination when playing without distortion. Slight buzzing from 6th E string but only on certain frets. Only play as a hobby, so not a big issue. Some tuning problems with the 2nd string for some reason but not unreasonable.

    Support:
No need to deal with the company but I hear nothing but good about Gibson's support. No upgrades or services required.

    Overall:
I think it will last forever, I hope, I will keep this product as long as I can play the guitar.

Gibson Les Paul SmartWood Studio (Muir Body) Customer Review

    Feature:
The gold hardware looks nice with the natural honey color of the wood. It also stays in tune alot better than I thought it would. Solid case as well, it fits like a glove.

    Quality:
Excellent craftmanship. I went over every millimeter of it when it arrived, it was perfect. Seems very solid and sturdy, very light too

    Value:
Seems to be a fair price for a Gibson Les Paul Studio. Retails for 1500^ or something

    Desirability:
    Always wanted a Les Paul

    Sound:
Sounds very, very nice playing it through my Boogie

    Support:
    haven't had to

    Overall:
I think I'll stick with this for a long time, very unique (no two are alike) and it plays, sounds great. It looks very classy

"Smart Wood - Smart Guitar - Smart Purchase"

    Feature:
Extra Strings and strap thrown in.

    Quality:
Ok so it ain't a major Paul - but it is verrrrryyyyy goood. One or two frets are slightly proud on the treble side but fixed easily.

    Value:
definitely worth the money and I would rate it above the studio models, and it is a managed wood into the bargain - lovely finish with the special surface.

    Desirability:
Couldn't walk away - played and purchased within 15 minutes

    Sound:
Excellent feel, Les Paul sound without the full weight, better than the studio. Very Individual, not many around in the UK - hence rare over here. Used with Yamaha Guitar Processor to gain different sounds but normally used clean with slight distortion from the amp - Laney kit of course!

    Support:
Needed some info and Gibson were great - next day email.

    Overall:
No way - I will keep this baby - you can keep the rest...

"I have read many people feel this is a good product. Hopefully you don't get the culls I got. I only wish the guitar was as good"

This reviewer purchased this item from Same Day Music.

    Feature:
I really liked the lighter weight, good look of the wood on the first one. The second one was not a guitar anyone I know would have loved. Much too dark and no grain to see well against the hardware. Should really consider a clear pick guard maybe as an option? I sure wish it played right, I love this guitar's features.

    Quality:
Warped neck, Can't get to tune, volume pot in crooked, scratches, what pile of junk. Terrible.

    Value:
There is no value in a product that doesn't do what it is asked now is there?

    Desirability:
I agree with all the claimed features. Oddly Gibson doesn't make the claim that they are in pitch or come from the factory ready to play.

    Sound:
Isn't this the point of an instrument? To be fair I want to say that samedaymusic has been wonderful in all respects. The guitar however stinks! I really had to question my own knowledge of music on this one. I can't believe Gibson put out such a terrible product. Not worth the wood it was made out of. The first one I ordered looked great but couldn't get to play a natural note. At best I could get most notes slightly sharp if I was careful to only bring the string to the fret bar and not the board. The second had such a warped neck I never bothered to look at it past the scratches dents and volume knob in crooked. I never could get the les paul sound. I wanted to play "It's been a long, long time" for my mother. Never did sound correct. Might need the brite wires instead of the lp signatures. I tried the vintage and nickel rockers with no improvement.

    Ease of Use:
A bit of a larger neck that I might like, makes for kind of a long reach for a F cord with the thumb on the Eb.

    Support:
Two of them stunk. I really had to wonder if I should flame this product. I am not a mean person and normally happy with products. I even went to a store for some checks on my own opinion against cheap import products. (and they sounded on key) Do I really need a tuner to know it is out of tune? No. Gibson 24/7 suggested I take it to a repair place and they wanted $180 just to look at it and even though the store was so called a factory warranty shop. The owner didn't give me the impression he would be able to fix it. Then I might not have been able to return it to the store after they filed down the nut and maybe damaged screw tops.

    Overall:
I shouldn't have to send a $1000 product back twice.
