Feature:
i am giving this a 10 because the features it has are all great. i mean this is a no frills bass. two volume controls. but the quality of what you get is fantastic.

Quality:
this is the unbelievable part of the G&L SB2 and the JB2 as well...the quality is outstanding. i have the burgundy JB2 and it is flawless. the finish is perfect, the bridge is massive, the pick ups are fullerton made, and the intonation is right on. i really don't know how they put out the SB2 and the JB2 for the price.

Value:
i consider the SB2 to be one of the absolute best values available in any musical instrument. same with the JB2. these basses easily stand up to others selling for two or even three time the cost.

Desirability:
i want this guitar because i am a player...period. i have been playing for 35 years and i want to play instruments that get the sound that i want. i really don't care about where its made as long as it plays and sounds great...and this one does. plus, it is a great looking machine.

Sound:
this is a great sounding bass...BUT you have to spend some time with it. by learning to adjust the volume of the split coil at the neck and the single coil at the bridge you can get a variety of sound. i play mostly blues and americana roots rock and this bass will handle those chores in fine fashion. i have found that it sounds better with my gain turned down on my amp compared to my JB-2 and my FENDERS.

Ease of Use:
i gave this an 8 because you do have to learn to blend the pick ups to get the sounds you want. there's no active circuitry or even tone controls...but with a little patience and experimentation you can get killer tones. i am absolutely obsessive with getting the sound i want.

i have been looking at the SB2 ever since i bought a JB2 about six months ago. i couldn't find any for a while because they were always sold out. i guess others have found out what i have..that G&L puts out an incredible value in its TRIBUTE SERIES SB2 and JB2. i play these more than my FENDERS and my MTD because they sound and play better. hopefully they will keep me happy for a long time. i have done extensive comparing and nothing under $1200 has a better sound.
