"good things in cheap packages"
This reviewer purchased this item from Same Day Music.
Sound:
Okay..here's the skinny...this guitar is no Gibson es-335...however it's less than 300 bucks. It's got a nice warm tone on the neck pickup, deep, dark, and jazzy...the bridge pickup is hot enough to have a little bite. It's pretty well balanced, but you'll need to set the action and intonation. I slapped some flatwound 12's on it and it blows everything else in it's price rang away (squire, epiphone, etc.)
Feature:
Here's my breakdown....the finish is awesome...it's a great looking stain job, esp. the translucent blueburst that I got....the hardware is a little cheap, but It's a cheap guitar and you can replace hardware...the cream binding is super classy. The factory set-up blows, but really, how hard is it to adjust action? Also..the pickguard is cheesy, but I just took it off.
Quality:
I'll give it a 9, because of the price....little things could be improved, but overall it seemes well made...I've had mine for about 6 months and no problems.
Manufacturer Support:
I can't rate this as I've not had to deal with Ibanez yet..however, it was super simple to register my guitar on their website.
Value:
this is where this guitar shines...unless you find some granny and swindle her out of her vintage arch top for $50...you are just not going to find a better jazz/ rock-a-billy guitar in this price range.
I think it's one of the smartest $300 purchases I've made in my 16+ years of playing.
The Wow Factor:
I lusted over this little gem for about 5 months before I bought...and satisfaction is not the death of desire....everyday as I drudge through work, I can't wait to get home and plug in.
Overall:
my set-up is AG75 to daddy-o overdrive to crybaby to Vox pathfinder...this vintage-y setup gives me more than enough of a sonic pallette to do all the music that I love....granted I'm not a metal freak..but everything else is covered.
