"Really nice sound, exceptional deal"
Sound:
I was looking at another guitar when I picked this one up b/c of the finish. After tuning it up (more on that later) I strummed and literally had a "OMG" moment. its sounds really, really nice. literally better than the $800-$1000 guitars I had been playing just a few minutes before. it has a "dark" or "warm" sound to it, not twangy or bright. I love the other features on this guitar but the sound is what sold me. It really REALLY sounds nice in lower tunings
Feature:
the on-board tuner is excellent. I have a digital tuner at home as well as the tuners on various boards/boxes/software & some of them are terrible. This one is right on. The satin neck is very smooth & will spoil you. I've already used the phase shift, as in one setting on 1 of my amps I use it constantly feeds back, but 1 click of the phase & its immediately solved. XLR-out is great...I've already used it as well, as one of the direct boxes at church was a piece of junk & I went XLR-in. Something not mentioned is that the EQ/tuner is AA batt, not 9-volt, so I can buy them everywhere.
Ease of Use:
amplified I feel like I have to cut the mids, which is easily done with the EQ. Acoustically it is awesome.
Quality:
well assembled. No extra glue or sharp fret ends, etc. Intonation was right on...course it could have been already set up at the store.
Manufacturer Support:
Never had to call Ibanez for anything so I just give it a 9. This is my 4th Ibanez product
Value:
value is a 10 for sure. anytime you get a guitar that sounds like a $1000+ guitar at a sub-$500 price then you get a 10 on value. plus the looks...
The Wow Factor:
the dark violin finish is darker than most of the pics I see on the net. Thats not a bad thing, I prefer it that way. Very unique-looking guitar. The gold accents of the soundhole, inlays & artwork really are classy.
Overall:
I won't be shopping for another acoustic for quite some time. I had been looking for 2+ years, playing every guitar I cold get my hands on, and I was willing to pay about $800-ish if I had to...but once I found this one the search was over. I'd have paid more for this guitar, but I'm glad I didn't have to.
