"Module and pads are comparable to Rolands TD3, but you'll have to excuse the cheap frame and plastic mounts."
This reviewer purchased this item from Same Day Music.
Sound:
I was surprised. I also own a Roland TD3 kit and bought this to add more pads. The module on this set has better sounds than the Roland TD3 and more tom sounds.
Feature:
Although it doesn't support dual zone, there are more inputs then the Roland TD3. The pedals are kind of cheesy but the pads themselves are just as sensitive as Rolands. The frame and mounts are the weakest point. The clamps break and the pads don't stay still. I made custom mounts for mine and have them mounted with my Roland TD3 kit.
Ease of Use:
The module isn't as straight forward as others. Too many "multi" buttons. In order to change drum sounds you have have to repeatedly press the same button then some arrows, not good for a quick set change.
Quality:
It's almost a toy, you get what you pay for. The cheap frame and pedals are not pro-quality so if it's not for a kid, don't expect much. The small clamps and mounts break and strip easy.
Manufacturer Support:
I didn't have to call the company. I bought mine at Target and exchanged my first set after all the clamps broke.
Value:
The module itself, although navigation sucks, can hold it's own against the TD3 and that's priced around $300. The pads are a good quality and keep up with rolls and speed metal. I've never had problems with dropped notes. Just plan on mounting it to and with something better than what is provided.
The Wow Factor:
Definately not too sexy by itself. I never did have it setup just by itself. It looks like a kids toy, but mounted with my Roland kit and kicks ass.
Overall:
I like it, it gets the job done and was cheaper than buying additional pads for my Roland kit. I was surprised by the module and pad quality.
