"Solo artist with a home studio and years of home studio experience. My home studio is for my personal enjoyment and is a hobby,"
This reviewer purchased this item from Same Day Music.
Feature:
This thing is loaded with features and flexibility. 12 inputs works out very well for me and allows me to have a single set up with all of my gear in place. It is easy to assign each input to any of the 32 mixer channels. I found the session drummer didn't work for me at all because there is no way to audition the drums with a sound track. Another feature they missed was the ability to listen to a mixer channel without it being recorded (like a MIDI device). You can do this through the Sub Mixer, but this not as convienent. Even with these issues though, this is a great unit at this price.
Quality:
I have had no problems with the divice. It works as advertised and I haven't found any bugs in the firmware or with the hardware. The sound quality is plenty good for my needs. I am very satisfied with the product.
Value:
At this price point this is a fantastic value. 32 track, 32 channels and 12 inputs at this price!
Desirability:
I wanted it badly enough to buy one. The unit looks great in my studio, and is a nice size. The controls and the inputs and outputs are well placed. Important functions are at your fingertips, and the menus are "shallow". Most menus can be reached by the press of a button, and it took no time at all to learn the menu sturcture.
Sound:
The sound is fine. The effects are good, but I found that I still wanted an external effects unit for my guitar.
Ease of Use:
I found the unit very easy to set up and to use. I have a lot of experience with studio gear and this is my second multitrack recorder. My first was a Roland VS840. The DR3200 is much easier to use and jam packed with more features and if you factor in inflation, the DR3200 is cheaper than the original price I paid for my VS840. This technology has come a long way since the VS840 was made. A mouse port would be nice, but the joy stick device is usable. Naming things is a bit tedious.
Support:
I contacted support to suggest a few improvements I would like to see. They responded to my emails quickly and professionally and told me they would pass my suggestions on, but nothing has been done so far and no one other else has contacted me to give me any feedback on my suggestions. The upgrades would require a firmware update. It's been over a year. As far as warranty or repair, I haven't needed any.
Overall:
Overall I am very happy with my DR3200 and if I lost it I would replace it. I'm pretty much a solo artist. I play guitar, bass, and simple keyboards and I sing. I use a Boss DR-880 for my drums. The DR3200 does exactly what I need and I am very satisfied with the quality of the music it allows me to create.
