Overall:
My experience is not atypical, but there does seem to be some variation in the quality of these machines - The pre amps are dire with no linear or log characteristic! The hard disc takes ages to update. The operating system is not as intuitive as a corresponding analogue mixer despite claims to the contrary. The screen is far too small. The graphics on the metalwork are difficult to read in good lighting conditions, and impossible in low light. Very disappointing.

"Korg D888 rocks"
Feature:I like that you can record all 8 tracks at once.
Quality:
the built in effects are good too.
Value:
can't imagine a better deal, in the past I've paid a premium for many 8-track recorders, Tascam, Fostex and Alesis and the Korgs the new favorite
Desirability:
I'm going to get another one soon...
Sound:
I found the D888 sound quality to be very clean and quiet. Recordings are void of any punch-in noise common with cassette 4-track machines.
Ease of Use:
Ok, I got a little frustrated at the start until I read the instructions, the D888 doesn't behave like any of my other equipment. After a 20 minute read I was able to quicky demo tracks on some new guitar material I've been working on, made a quick mix and posted it to my website with no trouble.
Support:
Didnt' need any yet.
Overall:
very happy with the D888

Feature:
Love the concept, especially for live capture recording. Should have insert points. very easy to record (but editing and customer service is non-existent)
Quality:
The unit is great quality, it's the software and customer service that is the problem.
Sound:
Recording quality is excellent
Ease of Use:
EDITING is pathetic. Customer service from Korg = good luck. took me a week to find a phone number, another week to get a person, then got generic info that didn't apply. The problem with this unit is: You can not delete sections of the recording (ie) ex: 10 - 20 secs of cross talk before the recording session begins or ends. It's on the file for good except to silence that 10 - 20 secs but the blank space is still there.
Support:
Good luck getting hold of ANYBODY! let alone a phone number or email address.
