"Great Add-on For the M3"
This reviewer purchased this item from Same Day Music.
Sound:
Adds great sounds to the M3. Basses and leads have much greater bite and power.
Feature:
Integrates nicely with the M3. Nice to have the Radias features integrate perfectly with the M3 touch-screen interface.
It should come with an install guide and an install disk to make it easier to configure initially, but it doesn't.
Ease of Use:
It should come with an install guide and an install disk to make it easier to configure initially, but it doesn't.
Otherwise it's plug and play (once set up and configured and you have loaded all the patches from the Korg site)
Quality:
As far as I can tell it's well made (it's an add on card). There were no fit problems when hooking it up to the expansion area of the M3, so I guess that's a good sign.
Manufacturer Support:
Haven't used support except for the Korg site. Again, installation should be more transparent if they included the Korg Radias presets on disk, or at least a short printed install manual pointing you in the right direction.
Value:
It's definitely worth it for expanding the sonic pallet of the M3. Is it physically worth $300? That I couldn't tell you, but for a PCB and some DSP chips it seems like Korg could do better on the price. I think $200 would be more reasonable.
The Wow Factor:
It's the sexiest add-in card I've ever seen!
Overall:
The card adds a great range of powerful VA sounds to the Korg M3. Although at the price of $300 you may want to look at other products that do VA or actual analog in the $500-700 range, the level of integration of the Radias card is a huge advantage over adding an additional kbd or module to your setup.
