"Incredible."
Feature:
The effects can be shaky, but put it on the chorus/reverb effect (nuber 6) and dial the intensity back to halfway and you will get a breathtaking clean sound and amazing sustain and depth for solos. The distortion is a little weak in the knees, but what can you expect from on-board distortion? Then again, I AM a distortion maniac. The only thing missing is a headphone jack and a cup holder.
Quality:
Kustom makes some of the best amps in the world. I really do not know how they deliver such awesome equipment for these prices. I would expect to pay nearly twice as much for what they give me. These things are tanks! But tanks that sound amazing.
Value:
I wish that this went beyond ten. You could pay upwards of $3000 for a stack that can almost give this kind of insane sound. Kudos to you, Kustom!
Desirability:
If amps have sex organs, I would never need to leave the house with this little beauty. Of course, it's more of the personality in this case. I personally am not a big fan of the vintage look, but hot damn, they do it well! I wonder what the kids would look like...
Sound:
I don't own the stack, but plan on buying it soon based on my experiance with the QUAD 100DFX and playing it in my local music store. My 2x12 blows away my friends' Randall, Dean Markley, and Marshal halfstacks. It puts out twice the sound with half the speakers and power. The half stack has the same tone quality and amazing versatility. I can dial in the late, great Dimebag Darrel sound with no trouble, then tweak the mid a little and go right into some vintage classic rock. Unbeleivable! Plus, the ability to cut through drums, over 30 voices, two acoustics running through a house PA, and electric bass and guitars without reaching 5 is simply stellar. In fact, I can't count how many times I was told I was too loud. And that was with my 2x12 combo!
Support:
I say the best defense is a good offense. Im sure the support team is VERY bored because I have NEVER had a problem with my combo and am expecting good things from the stack.
Overall:
I really can't express how impressed I am with Kustom amplifiers. When someone with a $4000 stack is jealous of the sound coming out of a $400 2x12, you know that you have something B-E-A-utiful! The truly awesome thing is that these heads are literally the exact same as the combos. It makes for an excellent practice to gig transition. And an excellent entry level purchase to the last amp you'll ever need to buy switch over.
