"For people without ears, or, if you love synthetic sounding noise."
Feature:A pain in the butt to work with. The manual sucks. I want something easy to use. I know you anal people who can't play, have no life, and want to sit around farting around with this crap feel some sense of achievement. I don't have the time to waste.
Quality:
Well, for 2-300 bucks, it should hold up.
Value:
Learn to mic an amp.
Desirability:
It looks like it belongs on the deck of the circa 1967 Enterprise. Spock would look cool dorking around with it.
Sound:
I bought the POD after "hearing" about it's realistic sounds in a recording environment. You know, sounds as good as miking your marshall, fender, mesa boogie, etc. What a load of crap. This is the typical synthetic sounding, way over-hyped digital piece of crap. Do you have ears? I can get better sound miking a pignose.
Support:
I think the sounds suck. So why would I call them?
Overall:
This is an over-hyped, synthetic sounding POC (piece of crap).

"Swiss Tool for Guitarists"
Sound:One of my only problems with the POD 2.0 is that it has 20 bit converters and you have to punch the front end with lots of boosted signal to get good resolution. So its best to use it with a mixer in a send/return aux configuration. Also, you have to have the foot controller or MIDI control with a pre-distortion volume pedal so you don't slam the amp models with signal. Otherwise, the POD will sound much more grainy than the real deal. However, using it in the standard mode does help with the cabinet emulation if you don't mind a bit of mud with your sound.

"A good tool to add to your collection."
Feature:Some effects like the chorus are somewhat basic, but when you begin to combine them with amp models and cabinet models then you can really get some good sounds
Quality:
Very sturdy, just don't use it for a stomp box. Buy the foot controller and mic stand adapter
Value:
Fair value if you consider that to buy all the amps and pedals to replicate this would be be in the thousands of dollars.
Desirability:
Pretty cool looks.
Sound:
Good overall sound. Very versatile. This is for the electric guitarist. For acoustic guitar, you can get some good sounds but other products are specifically for the acoustic guitar.
Support:
Great support. Line6 folks never seemed to think any question was a dumb one.
Overall:
Great for recording, no need to haul amps into the studio or clutter up your basement. Live performance is good but plan ahead and have cheat sheets with your presets. The foot controller and mic stand adapter are good accessories. Running straight to the sound board or PA eliminates a lot of equipment. Just plug in, turn it on, and you're cookin' with gas. This is an electric guitarists toy. If you play only acoustic guitar then this can get some pretty good sounds but other systems are much better because they are designed for the acoustic guitar.
