"A First-Rate Ukulele Available at a Very Friendly Price"
This reviewer purchased this item from Same Day Music.
Sound:
The S TEQ has a very sweet tone. I haven't owned another ukulele, so I don't have anything live to compare it with, but nevertheless, it just sounds really mellow: tropical, harp-like, and a feel good sound.
Feature:
This ukulele includes built-in tone controls and a very adequate preamp, so that the instrument can be played through any amp. It has a cutaway design to reach the highest notes on the fretboard.
Ease of Use:
The manual that comes with this instrument is nice for giving a few of the basic chords, but it is nothing really in-depth. I would highly recommend getting a good ukulele book with a CD, as I did, if you really want to learn how to play it. I have no complaint with the onboard electronics. The tone and volume controls work fine, are conveniently located on the instrument, and the preamp is sufficient to drive any amplifier. This little uke can really be heard if need be.
Quality:
The quality of this ukulele is excellent. No flaws at all that I can see, and the action is very nice. And the instrument just looks good.
Manufacturer Support:
Haven't delt with the company. There website looks very complete, however, and Lanikai, which is now a subsidiary of Hohner, is a very reputable firm.
Value:
Great value. A whole lot for the money - would recommend to anyone.
The Wow Factor:
The ukulele just looks really cool: Nice solid spruce top and mahogany sides and back, beautiful finish, and great design.
Overall:
I think I will be very satisfied with this ukulele indefinitely. It has a nice gig bag you can use to take it anywhere. Even if I were to upgrade to a finer model in the future (no such plans) I'd want to keep this one and take it around with me every day.
